Love solving challenging problems and thinking outside the box? This class goes beyond regular math to explore exciting topics, tricky puzzles, and big ideas that stretch your brain. Get ready for teamwork, “aha!” moments, and a chance to think like a real mathematician! We also do newcomer math intervention! |

Like games, and creative challenges? In this AVID enrichment, students will compete in strategy games, complete team problem-solving missions, and create vision boards that map out future goals, careers, and high school pathways. |

Students that participate in the basketball enrichment will spend time learning about basketball and refining their basketball skills in a fun and supportive environment. We will be outside on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays either scrimmaging, doing drills, playing knockout etc. Students will learn the rules of the sport and what appropriate/safe pick-up basketball looks like. |

Calm and Quiet Creative Skill Building |

This limited-tech enrichment offers students a peaceful space to decompress through hands-on creative activities like drawing, cursive, comic-style storytelling, and strategic game design. Participants are encouraged to find focus through the meditative practice of creative skill-building, and creative production. Students can also personalize their journey by bringing in original hands-on project ideas to pursue, such as calligraphy, crocheting, or cartography, among many others. |

Join our enrichment where you can explore two awesome paths: dive into Minecraft Education to complete exciting lessons and challenges while building and creating, or level up your tech skills by learning to code with HTML/CSS, JavaScript, or Python. YOOOOOOOOO, welcome to crazy comics!!! This is the enrichment all about Graphic novels and comics and appreciating them. The class is simple and direct, we meet three days a week along with study halls and we always do the same thing. Day 1- Comics Lore!!! Let's learn about the titans and pioneers of the comics industry and study the impact they still carry in comics today. Day 2- Commitment to Comics!! Let's bring in our comics from home and find really cool ones online and just read comics, that's it!! This is a day to commit ourselves to reading and enjoying comics. Day 3- Create comics!!! On our last day of the week we use specific software to create our own comic adventures with our own heroes and their own journeys!!! You don't want to miss this class, absolutely the best way to end your day!!

Ready to shred? In Gone Boarding you’ll get a chance to build your own skateboard or longboard from scratch! If you want to join us for this semester-long adventure, you will get a chance to transform a piece of raw wood into a fully functioning skateboard or longboard, learn about the history of boarding culture, and get creative designing graphics for your board! Whether you are a seasoned skater, or new to the scene, this is your chance to walk away with some new skills and the ultimate bragging right: a custom board you made with your own hands.

Our Library Assistance enrichment provides students with the opportunity to develop responsibility, leadership, and organizational skills while supporting the daily operations of our shared school library. Students in this enrichment help maintain an organized and welcoming learning space by assisting with tasks such as checking in/out books, shelving books, organizing materials, and preparing monthly displays. Students also have the opportunity to receive additional homework support in this enrichment.

In Origami class, we will explore the exciting art of paper folding. In this class, students will create colorful origami creations including planes, flowers, animals, characters and more. We will also explore more complex topics such as modular origami and moveable 3-D paper creations.

Philosophy Club introduces students to big ideas and timeless questions about knowledge, ethics, and reality. Through engaging readings, thought experiments, and guided discussions, students will explore different philosophical perspectives while learning how to think critically, ask meaningful questions, and respectfully debate diverse viewpoints. |

In pickup soccer, students will go outside to Merrill's soccer field, choose teams, and play a friendly scrimmage against their classmates. Students can also choose to work on soccer skills and shoot around! The focus is on friendly competition, fun, and a love for the game.

Students will be able to paint clay pots for common house plants. During the spring, they will start growing vegetables and herbs for starting a garden. |

Premier League Soccer Highlights Enrichment |

In the Enrichment, students will be able to watch the latest Premier League soccer highlights! Students will also have the chance to earn bi-weekly outside Enrichment days to play soccer with each other! |

In this class we will have two jigsaw puzzles that we can work on each day. Additionally, I provide word searches, crosswords, and brain game puzzles. |

In this enrichment, students will explore the totally radical world of skateboarding. We will watch famous skate films, go outside and skate on days where weather permits, design our own skateparks, create custom deck designs - and so much more! |

In Social Conversation, students will have the opportunity to practice their conversational skills with native English speakers and native Spanish speakers. This will not only be a class for your student to practice their second language speaking skills, but to shape lasting connections with students from diverse backgrounds. |

In this Spanish club, students will learn new vocabulary through fun and engaging activities. Through games like Spanish lottery, songs, creative worksheets, and interactive activities, you'll discover how Spanish connects to real communication and cultural expression in an enjoyable, supportive environment. |

Students will be exposed to frequent scrimmages and opportunities to practice skills associated with football, soccer, and basketball-- the 3 sports that are combined that make Speedball! Speedball is a non-contact, team-oriented game played in an indoor gym. This enrichment is encouraged for students who would like to get involved in sports at a low-risk level, and/or students who would like to sharpen their overall physical abilities and sports IQ. |

In Student Council, students will build leadership and teamwork skills while helping shape the culture of our school. Members will plan and organize school events like dances and spirit weeks, create awards videos and assemblies, run fundraisers such as candy gram sales, design pages for the yearbook, lead our Jags Against Hate campaign, and much more! This class is best for positive, responsible, and dedicated students who are ready to collaborate, communicate ideas, and make a real impact on the Merrill community.

This enrichment will focus on the power of storytelling. Students will get to choose if they would like to spend time doing independent reading, creative writing, or illustration; whatever way they'd like to tell or pursue a story. Students will have the opportunity to create their own stories whether in the form of a graphic novel, poetry, song lyrics, etc. One day a week, we will also watch a film version of a book that the students choose to see the impact of stories on film.
