September 5, 2024

Dear McAuliffe Community,

Our school year has gotten off to a great start! There is a renewed spirit of hope and joy that is palpable in our classrooms, halls, lunch/recess, meeting spaces and offices. We hope you and your student are encountering this hope and joy as you enter McAuliffe as well! Tonight is a great opportunity for you to engage with your student's teachers at Back to School night starting at 6pm. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the content of your student's classes and ask questions of your student's teachers, in addition to experiencing hope and joy first hand. We look forward to seeing you all tonight!

Thank you for all of your ongoing support for our entire McAuliffe Community!

With gratitude,

~ Ms. Frenzel, 8th Grade Assistant Principal

CSC Vote

Thanks to everyone who has been nominated to serve as a part of our CSC.  Our next step is to conduct a vote to finalize the parent members.  Included is a link with the names of candidates and a brief explanation why they would be a good fit to serve on our CSC.

Please fill out the Google form and select only four candidates. Voting will be closed by Monday, September 9th at 4:00pm. We will tally the votes to determine who the four parent members of our CSC will be for this school year. The members will be communicated out to the public and we will schedule our first meeting the third week of September.

Reporting Absences

Save time by letting us know that your student is going to be absent or arriving late. DPS families are able to use their computers or smartphones to know about absences or late arrivals so they can focus on taking care of their children. Guardians of DPS students must have an active DPS Parent Portal account to use this new feature. Visit myportal.dpsk12.org to sign up, or to check that your account is active and ready. Learn more about how to use this new feature.

Student Fees

Student fees have been added to your MySchoolBucks account. You can get to the MySchoolBucks site through your Parent Portal account. Click on ‘See All Apps’ and then MySchoolBucks. If you haven’t used MySchoolBucks before, you must add your student to the account.

Join the MSF Board!

The MIS foundation is a great way to connect with the school.  We are looking for a few parents who would like to help make an impact by becoming a member of the board! It doesn’t take a lot, just a passion for our students, a willingness to help us fundraise and an hour of your time once a month on Tuesday evening.   If you are interested in joining us as a board member please contact Michelle_moore@dpsk12.net

The goal of the Foundation is to financially support McAuliffe International School in achieving its mission of creating a high-performing middle school that prepares all students for success in high school, college and life. The McAuliffe at Smiley Foundation helps address the funding gap between what the school district provides, and the additional resources McAuliffe students and families need. We work with the school administration to prioritize school needs, identify which needs require additional funding, and then execute fundraising campaigns to address those needs.  For more information on the MSF priorities and accomplishments, please visit the McAuliffe At Smiley Foundation website.

Become a McAuliffe Sponsor!

Our sponsors are local businesses that support in various ways, from offering services, providing support to our teachers with supplies, or donating to different groups such as drama, athletics, clubs and more! Becoming a sponsor for our school means that you are not only supporting the school needs, but also being a part of our community in a bigger way. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor for our school, please reach out to michelle_moore@dpsk12.net for more information,
