McAuliffe Community,
We wanted to update our community on the work our culture teams are doing this year to ensure students are safe and engaged.
Culture teams are working hard in their grade level teams to ensure a strong student culture, by supporting the whole child through behavioral, social-emotional and academic systems and structures. This is a team approach and this year we are working extremely hard to be aligned in our approach more consistently across all grades. We have an amazing culture team that includes an Assistant Principal, Dean, Counselor, and Social Worker, all providing intentional support to students. A big emphasis this school year is providing families with weekly communication around progress grades and missing work. We want to see all students succeed and grow academically and this weekly communication is one way to ensure students are taking accountability for their grades. We are hoping that this clear and consistent communication is helpful in our partnership with families to improve student academic outcomes.
Our current average daily attendance is at 94% which is the 2nd highest in the district overall, and it is up 2% from last school year. Student culture has been strong across all grade levels. Students have settled into the school year extremely well and are demonstrating responsibility and thoughtfulness. A big thank you to the greater community in supporting our phone policy as we have seen a significant reduction in peer conflict and kids are in classes and are more engaged throughout the day.
A friendly reminder that we are hosting a book discussion on Wednesday, November 13th, from 6:00-8:00pm which will be led by our mental health and culture teams. Please reach out to Molly Lacy if you have questions about this event. We will discuss the book, Anxious Generation, which supports our cell phone policies in order to positively impact student well-being at school. We hope to continuum this positive momentum throughout the school year and always welcome your feedback and questions.
Thanks for all of your continued support and have a great fall break!
