McAuliffe School News

Message from the principal

Good afternoon McAuliffe Families,

This week I want to communicate about safety updates & reminders for our McAuliffe community. We are continuing to focus on before- and after-school safety at McAuliffe and appreciate your partnership.

Crossing Guard Opportunity:
We are seeking crossing guard support to help students arrive and dismiss safely, especially as traffic congestion and neighborhood safety concerns continue. These positions are hired through DPS Department of Safety, and a flyer with details is included below. Please consider applying or sharing with someone who may be interested.

E-Bike Reminder:
Students may not ride e-bikes on school grounds. E-bikes may only be ridden on sidewalks and must be parked in designated areas. Due to ongoing safety concerns, students who do not follow these expectations may lose the privilege of riding e-bikes to school. Please review these expectations with your child.

After-School Incident Transparency:
Lastly, I want to be transparent and open with the community about a situation that occurred after school on Tuesday.  Our administrative team intervened quickly, and no one was injured. One of the student's parents came on campus and needed to be escorted them off of school grounds. We always have strong supervision at the start and end of each school day, and we will continue to ensure students are safe. We ask families to reinforce with students the importance of not gathering, escalating situations, or recording incidents when conflicts arise. These situations fortunately do not happen often, but when they do we need students to make better decisions.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to keep McAuliffe safe, respectful, and welcoming for all.
