A message from the Principal . . . Dear Lincoln Families,
As Thanksgiving approaches, my heart is full of gratitude for our incredible school community. Thank you — for your kindness, your partnership, and the ways you show up each day to support our students. Your care makes our school a brighter, safer, and more welcoming place.
This season, I hope you find moments of rest, connection, and joy with family and friends. We are grateful for the many cultures and traditions that make our school community rich and vibrant. Celebrating those differences — and learning from one another — helps every child feel seen and valued. Here are a few simple ways to share gratitude at home and with your child:
Share a family story or tradition at the dinner table. Invite your child to tell one thing they’re thankful for each day. Encourage curiosity about classmates’ traditions and celebrate those differences together.
From all of us here at Lincoln, thank you for being part of our community. Wishing you a warm, peaceful, and meaningful Thanksgiving filled with good company and plenty of reasons to be thankful. With heartfelt appreciation, Ms. Shelley |

SAFETY FIRST - PLEASE HELP!
We need your help to keep our students and DPS community safe. As our lives become more and more demanding, it can be easy to get distracted or lose focus during morning drop‑off and afternoon pick‑up. From construction zones and changing traffic patterns to sudden stops in traffic, we must remain alert—especially in school zones.
This past week, several incidents have taken place throughout DPS in the morning hours that jeopardized the safety and well‑being of our students. To ensure everyone remains safe near our schools, please drive with the utmost care and attention. Please remember: Slow down — Follow the designated speed limits in school zones.
Stay alert — Watch for students in crosswalks, at drop‑offs and pick‑ups, and for children who may unexpectedly cross the street. Avoid distractions — Put phones and other devices away. Focus on driving and your surroundings. Be patient — A few extra minutes can make the difference in keeping everyone safe. Thank you for partnering with us to protect our students, staff, and community. Your careful driving and attention at arrival and dismissal keep our schools safer for everyone. If you have questions about arrival/dismissal procedures or traffic patterns near our campus, please contact the main office at [phone number] or email [email address]. |

Donations for Lincoln Families
Many Lincoln families have been adversely impacted by a delay in receiving their SNAP benefits on November 1. To help these families immediately, we’re asking our Lincoln community to come together and lend a hand. We're asking families who want to help to purchase a grocery store gift card for the Pantry Program to share with Lincoln families. Please drop off gift cards at the Lincoln front office by Friday at 3:10 pm. Preferred stores: King Soopers, Safeway, and Walmart. Any amount is welcome.
If you are not able to purchase gift cards from the store, you can also donate online - every dollar goes directly toward purchasing grocery store gift cards for Lincoln families experiencing food insecurity.
Another way to help is by supporting the Lincoln Pantry Program with a monthly donation. Your ongoing support helps us meet families’ immediate needs and ensures the program can continue helping throughout the school year. You can make one-time or monthly donations here: Lincoln Pantry One-Time or Monthly Donations
Whether you purchase a gift card or donate online, your generosity makes a real difference for Lincoln families who didn’t receive their SNAP benefits this month and ensures we can provide monthly grocery assistance to Lincoln families for the rest of the school year.
If you’ve already donated, please know we are deeply grateful for your support and generosity. Thank you for helping care for our Lincoln families in need. |

UPDATES ON LINCOLN ELEMENTARY'S GROUNDS AND SUSTAINABILITY UPDATES
Grounds:. The DPS Head of Grounds has developed a comprehensive plan that includes topdressing, aerating, and overseeding the field this spring and summer to promote healthy grass growth while balancing use and maintenance. Additionally, vendors are providing pricing to improve the landscaping and address muddy areas near the building, with work targeted for completion in the spring when conditions are optimal.
Please know that these efforts are proceeding thoughtfully with attention to seasonal timing to ensure the best outcomes for our school community.
Solar Energy Update: Last year, a solar shade structure was installed on our Lincoln grounds. DPS Planning selected Lincoln due to the existing ECE learning landscapes Bond project and a requirement for shade. Some Bond funds for shade contributed to the solar project. Over the summer our solar shade structure was connected tot the school's main power panel. The solar power goes directly into the school's main power panel, providing a small amount of power to the building.
The estimated annual energy production is 18,365 kWh. This amount of energy would be considered a large system for a home. Per the grant requirements, DPS Sustainability will be working to provide some level of solar education with specifics from the solar shade. |

How to Support Lincoln this Holiday Season We know Lincoln is a special place - and it’s our amazing community that makes it so. Families, friends, and neighbors come together to create a school filled with support, care, and opportunity. Whether through your time, energy or generosity, you help build an environment where every student can thrive. Thank you!
This holiday season, there are several ways you can continue to show your support: Colorado Gives Day (Early Giving Has Started!)
Your generosity makes Lincoln shine! When you give to the Lincoln Elementary PTSA, you’re helping fund small-group instruction, Innovation Space access, art and music classes, teacher grants, and the events that bring our community together. Every dollar directly supports our students’ learning, growth and joy at school - bridging the funding gap and keeping Lincoln strong. Every gift made between now and December 9th counts towards our Colorado Gives Day total. Give today and help Lincoln thrive! ___________ Appreciate Our Teachers and Staff
PTSA is organizing a schoolwide holiday gift collection to celebrate every teacher and staff member at Lincoln. By contributing to this fund, you’ll help ensure that everyone who supports our students - both in and out of the classroom - feels appreciated this season. Let’s come together to show our gratitude to Lincoln’s incredible team!
Last year, our community contributed more than $8,600, allowing us to recognize every member of the Lincoln team. This collective effort makes gift-giving easy - no need to shop for individual gifts - while ensuring every teacher and staff member feels valued and celebrated.
Please contribute to the fund by December 12th ___________ Pantry Program
This season, help ensure no Lincoln family goes without. The Lincoln Pantry Program provides grocery store gift cards to families experiencing hardship, offering vital support when it’s needed most.
So far this year, our community has raised over $5,400 and provided gift cards to 17 Lincoln families - thank you! The need for support continues throughout the school year, and your ongoing donations help ensure we can assist families whenever it’s needed most.
Will you consider becoming a monthly donor? Your ongoing gift helps us plan ahead and ensure Lincoln families can count on consistent support all year long. Donate to the Pantry Program ___________
Company Match We’re deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to the Lincoln PTSA this year. Your support strengthens our classrooms and community every day. Before the year ends, please take a moment to see if your company offers a matching gift - it’s an easy way to multiply your impact. For a duplicate tax receipt, contact fundraising@mylincolnptsa.org ___________ Give Through an IRA
Have a grandparent or family member who’s 70½ or older? Remind them that Lincoln PTSA (EIN: 84-6047914) is a wonderful place to direct their Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from an IRA! These tax-advantaged gifts can make a big difference for our students and school community. It’s a simple, meaningful way to give back while meeting required minimum distribution (RMD) rules. Be sure to check with a tax advisor to see if a QCD is right for them.
