A NOTE FROM PRINCIPAL SHELLEY DULSKY . . .
Hello Lincoln Lynx Families -
It’s hard to believe that the first month of our school year has come to an end. Our Lincoln Lynx students have settled into the new year, and the rhythm of learning and growing has become our wonderful daily routine.
As we build relationships, we continue to empower our students to become highly valued contributors to our school community and culture. One of the ways we do this is by recognizing acts of kindness that benefit our whole school. We recognize students' contributions by awarding them “Caught in the Act” tickets. Students receive these tickets when they demonstrate one of our school values. Our school values include:
Respect
Caring
Inclusiveness
Integrity
Responsibility
Courage
When students receive a Caught-in-the-Act ticket, they bring it to the front office and add it to our collection jar. As you can see from the photo, our jar is overflowing! We ring a recognition bell when each ticket is placed in the jar. We will create a Lincoln values chain to wrap in and around our hallways with our tickets, forming a great reminder of all the good things we are all doing to make Lincoln so special.
Ms. Heidi Rose has been coordinating our Caught-in-the-Act celebrations this year. A few of our many students who have received recognition so far this year (and are pictured above) include:
Korah - for helping quiet the lunch room!
Karson - for going above and beyond to help clean his classroom (cleaning up for other students!)
Calia - for taking part of her recess time to bring the equipment back inside the building
Please ask your student about their contributions to our school community. Everyone is doing something great!
Warmly,
Principal Shelley Dulsky

Please Come In!
During the pandemic, access to Lincoln's lobby and front office was limited to keep everyone healthy. These limits included having parents and guardians wait outside to pick students up early. Beginning last week, we changed our process. If you need to pick your child up before the end of the school day, or if you need to come to school for any other reason during the school day, you'll be invited inside. We'll still use our "doorbell" and ask you to identify yourself, but you'll then come in and talk with us directly at the front desk.
We look forward to increasing our opportunities to interact with one another at Lincoln!
Sign Up to Volunteer at Lincoln!
There are many opportunities to volunteer at Lincoln, such as chaperoning a field trip, participating in PTSA events, or supporting classroom activities. Certain volunteer opportunities require background checks to ensure all students' safety. When required, background checks must be completed before the volunteer opportunity. Not every volunteer opportunity requires a background check. Here are all the details:
These volunteer opportunities DO require a background check:
Field Trip Chaperone
Regularly scheduled classroom volunteers
These volunteers work with students in the presence of a teacher
School-sponsored activities that take place during the school day
These volunteer opportunities DO NOT require a background check:
PTSA events where students attend with a parent or guardian
Classroom parties where a teacher is present and in line of sight with parents and guardians
If you would like to volunteer for activities requiring a background check, follow this process:
Complete a background check through Sterling Volunteers using this link:
Notify Ms. Kimberlie in Lincoln's front office once your background check is complete and you have been cleared. Email Ms. Kimberlie here: kimberlie_gonzales@dpsk12.org
After notifying Ms. Kimberlie, come to the Front Office at Lincoln and complete a Confidentiality Agreement and provide a copy of your ID.
The Lincoln school calendar has recently been updated. Please access the current calendar from our school website: Lincoln Calendar
If you downloaded the calendar earlier in the year, please delete that version and re-download the new one so you will be sure to stay up-to-date with all things Lincoln!
2024-2025 Gifted Programming at Lincoln
Classroom differentiation will be our primary focus, with collaboration between the classroom teacher, GT teacher, and student, working to build students’ agency and explore their curiosities through learning extensions. GT students will also be able to work in small groups with Kate Huisken, the GT teacher, to support their learning paths. All students in grades 1-6 receive weekly problem-solving challenges in our innovation space led by Ms. Kate. We work to increase more equitable opportunities for identification and programming through universal screeners in kindergarten (November), 2nd grade (October), and 6th grade (September). You can request cognitive assessments in other grades (nomination form), and our team will examine other data to build a body of evidence to support learners.
Please reach out to Kate_Huisken@dpsk12.net with questions.

Your symptoms have been improving for 24 hours.
*If you develop a fever or start to feel worse after you have returned to normal activities, stay home and away from others until both of the above are again true, then take added precautions for the next five days.
