SBOE Wins Challenge 5280
Congratulations to the JFK SBOE team for WINNING Challenge 5280 this year! Challenge 5280 is an annual event where Student Board of Education, or SBOE, teams from across Denver Public Schools present their social justice research and policy proposals. This year's topics ranged from school safety to mental health supports. JFK’s team earned first place, as decided by a popular vote of all participating students. The team was awarded $5,000! The prize money will be used for educational field trips next year.
The JFK SBOE team believes that every student deserves access to a strong, vibrant neighborhood school. They are committed to using their voice and leadership to help reverse the trend of declining enrollment and build a stronger future for John F. Kennedy High School. Please congratulate these students!

The short showcase included original devised work, a devised adaptation of Charlie Chaplin's final monologue in The Great Dictator, "Shylock's" famous monologue from The Merchant of Venice, the prologue from Romeo and Juliet performed with fencing to demonstrate understanding of iambic pentameter, scene work and several poetry readings.
