Community Meeting Monday, December 15th 4:30-5:30 |
Join us for a Community Meeting Monday, December 15th from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. We will be discussing the recent news articles about the school accountability clock. Interpreters will be available, we hope to see you there. |
Dear JKF Band Families,
We want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible success of our recent Winter Concert this week. Our student musicians performed with skill, confidence, and heart. It was clear that their hard work and dedication truly shined on stage despite the barriers presented this year. Thank you to all the families who came out to support them - your presence and encouragement mean more than you know to our program.
We also want to share an important update regarding the instruments lost during the recent flood. We now have insurance funds available and are ready to begin the process of replacing the damaged instruments.
Our team is currently working closely with our outstanding band instructor Mr. Hernandez, district leadership, and our instrument vendors to ensure we purchase high-quality replacements that meet the needs of all our students. We will continue to provide updates as orders are placed and instruments arrive.
Our band program is rebuilding with strength, hope, and a deep sense of community. We are excited for everything ahead, thank you for your patience, partnership, and continued support of our musicians.
With appreciation, JFK High School Music Department

Notice for Athlete Families |
We want to make you aware that we have recently seen an increase in Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) in our school. HFMD is a common viral illness that typically affects children and teens, including active athletes. While generally mild, it is contagious and can spread quickly, especially in team environments.
HFMD is caused by a virus and usually begins with fever, sore throat, and fatigue. Within a few days, athletes may develop a rash on their hands, feet, or mouth. Most cases are mild and resolve within 7–10 days.
The virus spreads through close personal contact, coughs or sneezes, contact with contaminated surfaces and sharing water bottles or sports equipment. We have and will continue to sanitize our gym spaces, disinfect equipment and remind athletes to stop sharing water bottles. Coaches have met with our Denver Health School-Based Physician Associate for guidance to keep their teams healthy and well.
Please encourage your athlete to:
Wash hands frequently with soap and water, especially after practice.
Avoid sharing water bottles, towels, or personal items.
Clean and disinfect sports equipment and personal gear regularly.
Stay home from team activities if they show symptoms such as fever, sore throat, or a rash.
Cover coughs and sneezes and avoid close contact with others when feeling unwell.
If your athlete is experiencing fever-like symptoms, displays a rash on hands, feet or mouth, or generally feels unwell, please keep them out of all team activities. They may return once they are fever-free for 24 hours without medication and symptoms are improving.
Thank you for helping us maintain a healthy environment for our entire community. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to contact Jennifer Montoya at jennifer_montoya@dpsk12.net.
