Next week, students will take the practice P/SAT on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please see the schedule in the graphic shown in the newsletter below.
Parent/Guardian Teacher conferences will also be held next week. Please come out to speak with your student's teachers and better understand what is going on in their classes. We will offer light refreshments, and a few community partners will also be here to share information about their programs. Interpretation services will be provided.
This is also a reminder that students will not be in school on October 10, 11 and 14. When students return on October 15, it will be a BLUE DAY, and there will also be an early release on Thursday the 17.
At Kennedy, we value PRIDE (Professionalism, Respect, Inclusion, Dedication and Excellence) and hold students accountable to PRIDE while in the classroom. For the remainder of the year, our teachers will nominate students monthly who have exhibited one or more PRIDE values in their classes.
Please join us in congratulating the following students for exhibiting PRIDE values during September!
Professionalism: Jaryden Brannan
Respect: Jordan Velasquez
Inclusion: Ivan Marquez Zazutera
Dedication: Xavier (X) Benavidez
Excellence: Mia Chavez
We will host Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 8th and 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This will be a great opportunity for you to interact with your student's teachers and learn about the work your students are doing every day. Interpretation services will be provided.
Please see the schedule below for our upcoming P/SAT practice schedule for October 7th.
PSAT 8/9 and PSAT-NMSQT Testing will begin next week! Testing days are highly important for both our students and school.
On October 8, Freshmen will be taking the PSAT 8/9 test.
On October 9, Sophomores and Juniors will take the PSAT-NMSQT.
There will be a modified schedule for both of these days, and students will be released after testing is complete. Testing is expected to end around noon. If students require accommodations, their testing is expected to run a little longer, and case managers will be communicating those specific times on an individual basis.Grab-and-go lunch will be available for students after they complete testing and before dismissal. DPS transportation will be available for students at 1:20 p.m. for students who ride the bus.
Freshmen, sophomores and juniors must bring their charged laptops and chargers to school on their testing day. Limited loaner laptops will be available.
Seniors have an opportunity to join DSF office hours on Tuesday, October 8 from 1:30-3:50 p.m., but they are NOT required to attend school on either October 8 and 9.
Guardians, please know that students are required by the State to participate in these assessments, unless they are officially opted out by a parent. Parents can opt their students out via the Parent Portal, but we encourage students to participate. Kennedy needs at least 95% of students taking these assessments in order to maintain or improve our School Performance Framework rating.
ABC Eye Care's Gift of Sight program helps uninsured DPS students receive a discounted eye exam and free glasses, if they qualify. Please fill out the following form, and members from the Gift of Sight program will reach out to you to inform you if you qualify.
Fill out the form to begin!
