Community Updates 3/13: Hallett Talent Show Coming Up! |
Dear Hawks Community,
Spring Break is coming up quickly! Save the dates: there will be NO SCHOOL from Monday, March 30 through Friday, April 3. We also have NO SCHOOL on Monday, April 6; it is a Hallett non-contact day. And when we're back on Tuesday, April 7, we're jumping right into CMAS testing and College Week! I have included more details on all of this below.
If you want to sign your student up for a Spring Break Camp, Discovery Link still has space in their FREE program, which will be April 2-3 at Beach Court Elementary. Bluff Lake Nature Center also offers a paid camp (but scholarships are available). More details on both camps are below! Ms. D, Principal |

๐ค March 26: Hallett's Got Talent! |
ALL students are invited to come showcase their talents on Thursday, March 26 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at the Hallett Talent Show! Instead of auditions, performers will have scheduled rehearsal times during the school day with Ms. McGrew in the weeks leading up to the show. If your student is interested in performing, please have them pick up a Talent Show form from the music room and return it with a guardian signature.
Want to volunteer to help? We could use extra hands to decorate the auditorium, and we might even need an MC to introduce the students during the show! If you're interested, email Ms. McGrew at tina_mcgrew@dpsk12.net. |

โ๏ธ CMAS Testing After Spring Break |
3rd-5th grade will be taking Colorado standardized tests during the first three weeks of April. CMAS tests measure students' academic progress in English language arts, math, social studies and science. It is important that your student is on time and at school every day during testing, so please do not plan any vacations or appointments in the first three weeks of April. Thank you!

๐ค A Message From Nurse Amanda: Protect Yourself From Measles |
Measles cases are increasing in Colorado. Measles is very contagious and can spread quickly in schools if students are not vaccinated. A measles vaccine is the best way to protect your student from measles - plus, Colorado law requires students attending school to have a measles vaccine. Your student can get a free measles vaccine at Denver Health's school-based clinics - no insurance required.

| ๐ In Case You Missed It: Congrats to Ms. T! |
Anntoinette Hackney (Ms. T!) was recently given an award from the Denver Public Schools Foundation's A to Z Grant Program, which funds materials and opportunities that fall outside classroom budgets. The A to Z Grant has funded more than $3.4 million to schools in DPS since the programโs inception in 2006. You can learn more about DPS Foundation and support the A to Z Grants on their website.
The A to Z Fund is funded through collective donations made to the DPS Foundation from organizations, companies, individuals and foundations. Every dollar makes a difference in the support of our educators and students. Ms. T is very excited about the award and will use it to support Hallett's Art Club! |
