Dear Hawks Community,

February went by quickly at Hallett!

Our amazing educators - especially Mr. Jay, Ms. Monáy, Ms. Deb and Ms. McMGrew - worked hard to put together a Black History Month celebration. On Wednesday, our Hawks sang Black History Month songs, learned some step moves from the Stedman step team, and cheered on our Student Council President, Brandon, as he shared his own version of Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech. It was a great way to end the month of February.

Plus, earlier in the month, students got to learn from Judge Jill Dorancy, who walked them through a mock trial activity. She is a great example of Black leadership and an inspiration to our students - 5th grader Tanaya shared that she wants to be a judge someday!

Black History Month was a success, and as we move into March, we're excited to celebrate Women's History Month next!

3rd-5th grade will be taking Colorado standardized tests during the first three weeks of April. CMAS tests measure students' academic progress in English language arts, math, social studies and science. It is important that your student is on time and at school every day during testing, so please do not plan any vacations or appointments in the first three weeks of April. Thank you!
