Community Updates 2/2: It's Black History Month! |
|
|
Dear Hawks Community, Black History Month is here! To kick off February, we're celebrating 5th grader Brandon Davis, a leader at Hallett and a future Black history-maker. Check out his video linked above!
Our incredible staff has put together a whole month of celebrations for our Hawks. Each week in February, we'll be celebrating a different Black history theme in our classrooms. |
-
Week 1: Identity and Joy: Students name and display excellence in themselves through art and writing projects
- Week 2: Family and Community: Families and careers are elevated as examples of Black excellence in through our family career fair
-
Week 3: Culture and Expression: Black excellence and identity is expressed in a spirit week
- Week 4: Legacy and Future: Students create projects to show who they are becoming
|
To help celebrate at home, I invite families to talk with your students about Black History! Ask your Hawk what questions they have about Black history. Write down your questions and reflections together. If your student wants to share their thoughts with the school, they can bring them to me and we can talk about it during the morning announcements.
Read on for more info about specific events we'll have to celebrate Black History Month in February! Warmly, Ms. D, Principal |
