From the Desk of Ms. D

Dear Hawks Community,

I hope you all had a restful break last week! In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to briefly share how grateful I am for this Hawks community. Your dedication to our students' learning is incredible and we wouldn't be Hallett without our amazing team of families, educators, staff and of course, students. Thank you for all that you do to support our wonderful learning environment!

Warmly,

Ms. D

“To teach in a manner that respects and cares for the souls of our students is essential if we are to provide the necessary conditions where learning can most deeply and intimately begin.”

Is Your Hawk Having a Great Experience at Hallett? Tell Us About It!

SchoolChoice is just around the corner, and we'd love your help spreading the word about our incredible school!

Denver Public Schools are funded per student, so the more students we have, the more funding we'll receive to spend on improving our students' learning experience! We need to increase enrollment to make sure that Hallett is funded well enough to continue to provide what we offer.

To get more students to enroll at Hallett, we're hoping to share the great experiences students have here! If you or your child have had a great experience at Hallett, please consider sharing with us!

Leadership Opportunity for Parents

Want to stay in-the-know about what's happening at Hallett? Interested in providing input on Hallett decisions? Our Collaborative School Committee could be for you!

Our Collaborative School Committee is made up of Hallett leaders, educators, parents and community members. Beginning this month, the CSC will meet quarterly. If you are interested in becoming a parent member of the CSC, please email Ms. D at c_degrafinried@dpsk12.net.

Learn more about the CSC here.

Supporting Hallett This Holiday Season

Thinking about how to give back this holiday season? Consider helping out our 3rd graders by donating to support the field trip of a lifetime!

Holiday Help Needed!

All Hallett students will receive a gift for the holidays, courtesy of our Community Hub!

We are asking for volunteers to help wrap gifts at Hallett the week of Dec. 9. If you are available to help wrap, please contact Ms. Yvonne at 720-424-6070 to schedule a time.

We also need to collect supplies to wrap these gifts! If you are able, we would greatly appreciate donations of:

  • Holiday gift bags (medium and large sizes)

  • Holiday wrapping paper rolls

  • Holiday bows

Please drop off any donations to the front office by Dec. 9.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!

College Readiness Celebration

As you know, college readiness is a big priority here at Hallett! Our Hawks may be young, but they're not too young to start dreaming about college and beyond.

We're thrilled to share that we're planning to host a college readiness celebration in the spring! We're still in the beginning planning stages for this event, and we'd love to have your input. Got ideas? Share them here!

In the meantime, we invite you to prepare for the celebration by dusting off your old college gear! We're hoping our students can show up repping colleges. Imagine how proud your Hawk will be to show off their parent's alma mater!

If you don't have college gear, there's plenty of time to order some! Maybe your child has a dream college they'd like to attend... can you think of a better way to encourage them than by getting them a t-shirt from their dream school? A t-shirt from the Community College of Denver can also be a great idea.

Finally, we'd love to collect some college memorabilia for the celebration. If you have old college pennants or posters that you'd like to donate for us to display at Hallett, please reach out to Emma at emma_calkins@dpsk12.net.
