5/1 Community Updates

From the Desk of Ms. D

Dear Hawks Community,

College Week is in full swing here at Hallett! It has been wonderful getting our kiddos excited about higher education. They've had the chance to talk to high school counselors, HBCU alumni, and their own teachers about the college experience and how to start preparing!

Today, they'll get the chance to talk to representatives from different trades about trade school. They'll each get their "passports" stamped for every guest that they talk to or ask a question. Please ask them to show you their passports when they get home tonight, and ask them to tell you what they learned!

Our Hawks' thoughtful questions and excitement about college have proved that it's never too early to start thinking about the future. Thank you for getting your kids excited about college with me!

Warmly,

Ms. D

Educator Appreciation Week is May 5-9

Next week, we are celebrating all the hard work our educators do to help our students learn and grow! If you have time, please consider helping your child do something nice for their teacher, paraprofessionals, admin, or any Hallett staff. It could be as simple as a a few sentences of appreciation written on a notecard. Let's show our staff some love!

Thank You for Supporting Earth Day at Hallett!

Earth Day was April 22 and we celebrated by picking up trash, planting flowers and enjoying popsicles. Thank you to everyone who donated trash bags, gloves, flower seeds and popsicles! Our Hawks had a great time caring for our planet.

End of Year Events Eligibility

At the end of the school year, we have several fun and meaningful events planned to celebrate our students' hard work and growth.

To ensure that all students can enjoy these events safely and respectfully, we want to remind families of the importance of consistently following our Hallett HAWKS Values and Hallett Habits:

  • Be Respectful

  • Be Safe

  • Be Responsible

These expectations help us create a positive and secure learning environment for everyone. Students who are unable to follow these expectations or who engage in unsafe behaviors may lose the privilege of participating in end-of-year events. Please note that any student who loses this privilege will still be expected to attend school, but may not be included in certain designated activities.

If your child becomes ineligible to attend an event due to behavior concerns, a member of the School Administration Team or your child’s classroom teacher will contact you directly.

We appreciate your support in reinforcing these values at home and working with us to make the end of the school year a safe and enjoyable experience for all students!

Drop-Off Reminders

Parents, please note that K-5 students cannot be dropped off prior to 8:30 a.m. and ECE students cannot be dropped off prior to 8:40 a.m. unless your child is in Discovery Link.
