From the Desk of Ms. D

Dear Hawks Community,

I hope you all had a restful spring break! As we head into the final stretch of the school year, I just want to remind you that every minute in school matters. Please do your best to get your Hawk to Hallett on time every day so they can enjoy a full day of learning. Let's finish the school year strong!

Warmly,

Ms. D

“To teach in a manner that respects and cares for the souls of our students is essential if we are to provide the necessary conditions where learning can most deeply and intimately begin.”

College Readiness Week April 28-May 2

As you know, one of my big goals for this school year was to promote college readiness - our children are never too young to dream about college! As a part of this effort, we'll be having a college readiness week during the last week of April.

Students will have opportunity to hear from current college students, HBCU alumni, high school counselors, trade school representatives, and more! And we're even hoping to offer a session for parents about affording college. Stay tuned for more details!

In the meantime, we're collecting decorations for college week to display around Hallett. Do you have any old college memorabilia you'd like to lend us? If you have college pennants or other items we can display, please feel free to drop them off a the main office.

Literacy Practice at Home

If you'd like your kindergartener-5th grade to practice their literacy skills at home, consider using Boost! Boost is an online literacy program that students have been using at school. They can continue to use it at home - students should know how to log in through Clever. If your child has questions about how to log in, feel free to contact your child's teacher.

Fun in the Sun: May 30

Our end of year community event is coming up! Fun in the Sun will be at the Hallett playground from 4:30-6 p.m. on May 30. The whole school, family and friends are invited to join us for water games, a bounce house, a foam bubble blast and more!
