Communicate with our School via Rooms

Denver Public Schools has transitioned to a communications platform called Thrillshare for all its communications, which works with the NEW, free DPS app! This means teachers, staff and coaches are now able to message (SMS or email) families directly, or through the DPS app! To facilitate the smoothest communication possible with our school and your student's teachers, be sure to follow these easy steps:

  • Download the FREE Denver Public Schools (DPS) app (available from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store).

  • Click "Rooms" at the center bottom of your screen.

  • Enter your email or phone number that you provided when you registered your student for school in Parent Portal, and choose to sign in with a one-time access code.

  • You will receive a one-time access code to the email or phone number you just entered.

You should now be connected with all Rooms to which your student has been added!

2025-2026 Student Absences Policy and Procedures

New for the 2025-2026 school year, all student absences will be reported using the online attendance tool in your Parent Portal. Instructions for how to enter a student absence notification through Parent Portal can be found here in ENGLISH, SPANISH and ARABIC. Please review the entire GWHS Attendance Policy HERE. The GWHS Attendance Policy contains important information regarding attendance requirements, interventions for chronic absenteeism, and more.

2025-2026 Cell Phone Policy

Please review the GWHS cell phone policy for the 2025-2026 school HERE. “BELL TO BELL, NO CELL.” This means cellular devices may NOT be used during instructional time, including in classrooms, hallways, and bathrooms. Devices must be in the classroom storage holder or put away, as determined by the teacher.

BESS Survey

This school year, all Denver Public School students will complete universal behavioral and emotional health screening using the Behavior and Emotional Screening System (BESS). This is an online tool that takes approximately five minutes to complete and consists of 28 questions for the student to answer. During school registration, parents and guardians had an opportunity to opt their child out of completing the Student Self-Report Form of the BESS.

GWHS will be facilitating students in completion of their Student Self-Report Form of the BESS Monday, October 20 through Friday, October 24th (with make-ups the following week).

Parents/guardians have the right, upon request, to review the items on the BESS. This is completed through a phone call, video call, or in-person meeting with their child’s school. Due to copyright, school teams are not able to send a copy of the questions home prior to screening. If parents/guardians would like to confirm or revoke their opt-out decision, please do so by calling our Main Office.

Healthy Choices, Bright Futures

Healthy Choices, Bright Futures is coming to Bruce Randolph School on Tuesday, October 21 from 5:30 to 7:00pm. Families will hear a powerful story from a mom about fentanyl awareness, learn tools to talk about prevention at home, and connect with community resources. Dinner, childcare, and interpretation provided. Families may be eligible to receive gift cards. More information about the event and additional resources can be found on the FACE website or in this FLYER. Click HERE to RSVP.
