Back to School Night
We invite you to Back to School Night tonight, September 10, from 5:00 to 7:00pm in the GWHS South Courtyard. Come let our ambassadors lead you on a tour of our building. Talk with coaches about our sports. connect with other parents who are already involved, and meet our teachers or staff (some of whom are GWHS alumni). All family members are welcome. Food will be provided. Kona ice will be available for purchase! Click HERE for more info.
Assessment - PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 9 and Accuplacer
On Tuesday, October 15, all students in grades 10 and 11 will take the PSAT/NMSQT. There will be no school for students in grade 9 or grade 12. See the PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide HERE.
On Wednesday, October 16, all students in grade 9 will take the PSAT 9. Additionally, all grade 12 students who need to demonstrate competency for graduation in English and/or math will take Accuplacer. There will be no school for students in grades 10 or 11, or students in grade 12 who have demonstrated competency for graduation. Grade 12 students, watch your DPS email for information, or speak with your counselor regarding competency. See the PSAT 9 Student Guide HERE.
All students will need to bring their DPS-issued Chromebook on their test day. Students, be sure your Chromebook charged before test day. If you do not have a DPS-issued Chromebook, visit Mr. Embleton in room 323.
If you do not want your student to participate in assessments for the 2024-2025 school year, parents/guardians must complete an Assessment Participation Exemption Request through Parent Portal. Click HERE for more information about assessments and the opt-out process. Guides in ENGLISH and SPANISH are available.
Student Drop-Off/Pick-Up
Student drop-off and pick-up will be in front of the school (off of Monaco Parkway) or in the Lower South Lot (off of Leetsdale Avenue). The Lower South Lot (off of Leetsdale Avenue) is the recommended lot for drop-off/pick-up to alleviate traffic along Monaco Parkway. If the North Lot is used for drop-off, students will need to enter through door 1 (off of Monaco Parkway), and will not be admitted through the North Lobby. The gate into the North Lot to/from Monaco Parkway will be closed, and Virginia Avenue will be the only access point for the North Lot.
Student entrance will be allowed only through the Main Lobby (off of Monaco Parkway) or the South Courtyard doors 3 (East) or 8 (West). This allows us to fully monitor entrances to improve safety.

His foundation has helped create an amazing space for our Speech & Debate, Robotics, Journalism, GNews, and Podcasting programs. A special thank you to our Assistant Principal and Athletic Director, Brendan Netherton, and our teachers Kristi Paukstis and Maryrose Kohan for making this possible, but most importantly, thank you to our students (current: Diego Holguin, graduates: Fred Scott, Halle Guber, Tay Smith, and Liliana Feeny)!
