2024-2025 Online Registration

New students/families assigned to George Washington High School, and returning students/families for the 2024–2025 school year, complete your online registration today! Log in to your Parent Portal account now to update your student’s information online. All SchoolChoice applicants must have an accepted seat prior to registering their student. Course schedules will be dropped for students who remain unregistered after Friday, August 23.

If you are having trouble logging into your Parent Portal account, please reach out to the Parent Portal Team at 720-423-3163 or dps_portalteam@dpsk12.org.

Student Drop-Off/Pick-Up

Student drop-off and pick-up will be in front of the school (off of Monaco Parkway) or in the Lower South Lot (off of Leetsdale Avenue). The Lower South Lot (off of Leetsdale Avenue) is the recommended lot for drop-off/pick-up to alleviate traffic along Monaco Parkway. If the North Lot is used for drop-off, students will need to enter through door 1 (off of Monaco Parkway), and will not be admitted through the North Lobby. The gate into the North Lot to/from Monaco Parkway will be closed, and Virginia Avenue will be the only access point for the North Lot.

Student entrance will be allowed only through the Main Lobby (off of Monaco Parkway) or the South Courtyard doors 3 (East) or 8 (West). This allows us to fully monitor entrances to improve safety.

2024-2025 Student Parking

All student drivers are required to register and pay $10 for an annual parking pass. The registration form is available HERE. Payment must be made in cash in the Main Office, during lunch or after school, from Tuesday, August 20 through Friday, August 30. The parking pass must be displayed in the vehicle's interior rear window on the left side at all times. Student parking is only allowed in the Lower South Lot (off Leetsdale Avenue). For more information about student parking, click HERE.

Lifetouch School Photos

Lifetouch Photography will be taking student ID photos on Monday, August 26. Be sure to be in school to have your required ID photo taken! Students will attend their photo session during their math class.

Class Meetings

All students will attend a mandatory Class Meeting on Wednesday, August 28. Grade 9 students will attend the second half of Period 1, grade 10 students will attend the second half of Period 3, and grade 11 and grade 12 students will attend during Period 5. Be sure you are in class and on time so as not to miss these important mandatory meetings!

Schedule Change Process

Students, if you need a course schedule change, QR codes to request a change are posted in the Pike's Peak Lobby and some classrooms. Please scan the QR code to make any requests (DO NOT email your counselor directly). Schedule changes are made for compelling academic reasons only, including:

  • Missing a graduation requirement

  • Leveling up or down (to or from an AP/IB or Honors class)

  • A duplicate class is scheduled

Teacher and period changes WILL NOT be considered. Schedule changes for grade 10 through 12 students are largely finalized. If you feel you have extenuating circumstances, you may submit your request via the QR code for your counselor to consider.

Parents

Ninth Grade Parent Orientation Meeting Presentation Slidedeck

Thank you to those ninth grade parents who were able to join us Monday, August 19 for our orientation meeting! If you were unable to attend, please review the presentation slidedeck HERE.

Clothes Bin to Benefit GWHS

GWHS has partnered with Clothes Bin to recycle old clothing, shoes and textiles, which helps the environment and supports our school! Be sure to bring your old clothing, shoes and textiles (including towels, bedding and more) to add to the giant green bin located in the Lower South Lot (off of Leetsdale Avenue) - every pound collected means seven cents donated back to GWHS! Please adhere to the guidelines for collection (textiles and shoes only; no toys, electronics, etc.). Click HERE for more info, and thank you!

Seeking Three Parent/Guardian Members for Collaborative School Committee

Our GWHS Collaborative School Committee (“CSC”) is an elected advisory board consisting of parents, students, teachers, community members and our principal. The primary work of the CSC is to implement and develop our Unified Improvement Plan. This consists of helping to guide the school’s budget, staffing allocations and school design. We are seeking three new parent members for the CSC. Meetings are currently set for once each month, typically at 4:30pm in the GWHS Library. CSC members serve two-year terms. If you are interested in serving on our CSC, please email Dr. Dackri Davis and plan to join us at the first CSC meeting on Monday, August 26 at 4:30pm in the GWHS Library.
