Dear Ellis Elementary School Community,
Thank you for your continued partnership in the Ellis Elementary School principal selection process. We are excited to share that Mr. Anthony Muñiz has been selected as the next principal at Ellis Elementary School. We are confident that Mr. Muñiz will continue to build upon the many strengths at Ellis.
Mr. Anthony Muñiz is a bilingual (English/Spanish) educational leader with 18 years of experience in K–12 schools (14 as a teacher and 4 in school administration). His career began in Puerto Rico, where he taught English as a Second Language and core subjects across grades 4–9. This foundation, coupled with his bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, has given him a deep commitment to serving multilingual learners and diverse communities. He currently serves as an Assistant Principal in Denver Public Schools, where he focuses on fostering inclusive school culture, improving instruction, and supporting multilingual learners. He believes in leading with empathy, high expectations, and collaboration. Whether he is coaching staff, designing behavior systems, or chairing the school’s Multilingual Education program, his goal is to ensure every student thrives academically and socially. Mr. Muñiz is truly honored to be the next principal of this vibrant and strong community, and continue the great work at Ellis.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who engaged in the selection process this fall and contributed input and feedback. We also want to express our gratitude to the Ellis Collaborative School Committee (CSC) for their time, thoughtfulness, and unwavering commitment to the ongoing success of Ellis. Along with the input you shared in the initial survey, the committee developed a candidate profile to create interview questions for the candidates that participated in the initial round of interviews. This committee served the school community well, and we are grateful for this group of dedicated partners.
Additionally, we would like to thank Interim Principal Kurt Siebold for his ongoing leadership and service to Ellis. We are grateful for his commitment to the school community and for the positive impact that he has made this year. Principal Siebold will continue to serve at Ellis after Winter Break and is committed to supporting students, staff, and families while we intentionally transition Principal Muñiz into the role.
