September 30th was National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also knows as Orange Shirt Day. This day acknowledges the harm the residential school system had on Native children’s sense of self-worth and well being. To affirm our students and their self-worth, several organizations across DPS came together to paint the “E” with the words “Every Child Matters”.
As you are all aware, Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for next week, October 8th and 9th. Both evenings will run from 4 - 8 pm. To sign up for a slot with your student's teachers, please visit this link. Please note that you should arrive to the school no more than 10 minutes prior to your scheduled slot time. 9th-11th grade students will have the opportunity to take the PSAT 9 and NMSQT. This is an excellent SAT practice opportunity for all, and the NMSQT allows national academic recognition and scholarship opportunities.
Please be on time for testing. If you arrive after your assigned testing room has started testing, you may not be admitted.
The building will not be open to non-testers until after 12:30 pm.
All athletic events will commence as usual.
Please bring your School Issued Chromebook fully charged with your charger.
There will be one make-up opportunity for the 11th grade NMSQT test only starting at 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday October 14th in the library.
Please also be aware that students with extended time or extra breaks accommodations will not be released with students who have standard time and breaks.
During testing weeks, students are required to attend only during their assigned testing day. Testing days are assigned by grade level and test.
A guardian may opt their child out of their testing accommodations for this test no later than Wed. October 2nd by sending an email that states the full name, grade, and test to our site assessment leader Jessica Perkins at jperkin@dpsk12.net . Students may not opt out of their accommodations after October 3rd.

The East Choir Department is proud to present our first choir performance of the year!
Our annual Cabaret Concert will be held Friday (10/3) @ 7:00 PM and Saturday (10/4) @ 4:00PM in the East Auditorium. This year we are thrilled to welcome a guest artist who will be working with students leading up to the concert AND performing with us. This concert features music from Broadway Musicals, Movies and Jazz Standards and has performances you do not want to miss!
Even if you don't have a student in the East Choir, we sincerely hope you will join us for a night of fantastic performances and community supporting our East singers. This performance is not to be missed! Tickets can be purchased HERE. Thanks for your support!

Check out our JROTC Members at their Promotion Ceremony a couple of weeks ago! Our students were inducted into their respective leaderships roles and even got to perform the ceremonial cutting of the cake with a sword. Way to go JROTC Angels!
Parking electric scooters and bikes: Please park all electric scooters and bikes on the south side of the "E" by the bike racks. Scooters should not be parked or operated directly in front of the school or on the "E". For the safety of community members, please walk your scooter or bike to this area after you've reached the Esplanade in front of the school.
Parking Vehicles: Please take a moment to read this important information regarding parking in the front of East. Note that a few areas directly in front of the school along City Park Esplanade have parking designations not available to the general public. There is a passenger pick up/drop off area that is only meant for temporary parking on the northeast side just before the baseball fields on City Park Esplanade. Additionally, there is handicapped parking on the south end of City Park Esplanade marked with signage. Please DO NOT park in these areas as you will receive a parking ticket. East High School is not responsible for any tickets you incur parking in these areas. Please take notice of other parking signage to avoid receiving a parking violation.

Healthy Choices, Bright Futures is coming to Bruce Randolph School on October 21, 5:30–7:00 PM.
Families will hear a powerful story from a mom about fentanyl awareness, learn tools to talk about prevention at home, and connect with community resources. Free dinner, childcare, and interpretation will be provided. Families may be eligible to receive gift cards.
The first 100 DPS families to attend The Healthy Choices, Bright Futures event will receive a *$25 King Soopers gift card.
The Healthy Kids Colorado Survey (HKCS) will be held at East High School on November 10 & 11, 2025. Questions will take one class period to complete. Responses to the survey are anonymous and serve to inform the state on programs and policies that help youth thrive.
Students are not required to take the survey. To opt your student out, please contact the survey coordinator at your child’s school within the next two weeks if you do NOT want your child to participate. If you wish to give your child permission to participate, no action is needed at this time.

Study No More — a one-of-a-kind, site-specific immersive theatre experience that brings the rich history of East High School to life.
The journey begins in 1925, the year our current building first opened its doors, and travels decade by decade all the way to 2025. Audiences will explore the halls, rooms, and iconic spaces of East while witnessing powerful, student-created scenes inspired by major historical moments from the past century.
This production is unlike anything we’ve done before — bold, creative, and deeply connected to our school’s legacy.
Because some spaces are intimate, each evening will feature four rotations of 30 audience members. Of those spots, 20 tickets will be sold online and 10 tickets will be available at the door.
