Counseling Connections

  • Choice of Studies:

    • Choice of Studies has been completed with our current students for the 25/26 school year. If your student has any questions about the courses they selected, they can connect with their counselor until 4/14. After this date, will be unable to make any changes in the system until August as the comprehensive schedule is created.

  • International University 101: How to get your undergrad in Europe, usually at a fraction of the cost:

    • April 10th, 6pm - Virtual event:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83829853240

    • Learn about key differences between the US and Europe.  How are academics? Is English possible?   How affordable are the fees?  Can I use FAFSA & 529 Plans abroad?  How does disability support work abroad?  What are the free resources to start my search?  There is also a chance for Q&A.

    • Presented by Denise Cope, President of Affordable Degrees Abroad.  She has 20+ years of experience with international education and has sent 4,000 students to 150 universities abroad.  She is the former Director of the Office of International Education at the University of Denver.

  • First Generation Student Meeting:

    • If your student is a first-generation student (a student whose parents did not complete a four-year college degree in the U.S.), please encourage them to attend. Please see the flyer below for additional information.

  • 9th Grade CU Boulder Trip:

    • 9th graders have been invited to a trip to CU Boulder on April 10, 2025. This is a great opportunity to get on a college campus, see what they have to offer and begin thinking about what they'd like to do after high school themselves. Students can access the permission slip on the Class of 2028 Schoology page or get one from Ms. Hyosaka in the counseling office.

State Testing Schedule Spring 2025

sat
  • From April 14th - 17th East High School students will participate in SAT, PSAT, and CMAS Science tests as required by the state of Colorado.

  • This is a chance for students and their families to get feedback on student progress and college readiness.

  • All 11th grade students taking the SAT free of charge have the opportunity to send their scores to colleges to be considered for admissions decisions.

  • Parents or guardians who would like to decline their student’s College Board approved testing accommodations for the April administration of the SAT or PSAT should email our Site Assessment Leader Jessica Perkins at jperkin@dpsk12.net by March 14. Any requests made after that date may not be guaranteed because accommodations are built into the digital testing format.

  • These test scores affect East High School’s ratings on the state of Colorado’s School Performance Framework.

  • The guardian of a Denver Public Schools student, can request to excuse their child from participating in the state assessments. If you wish to opt your child out, please direct any opt out requests in writing to mark_saucedo@dpsk12.net. Include your student's name, grade, and the test(s) for which you would like them opted out.
