State Testing Schedule Spring 2025

Make up Testing Begins Monday, April 21st at 8:20am in the Library

sat

From April 14th - 17th East High School students will participate in SAT, PSAT, and CMAS Science tests as required by the state of Colorado.

This is a chance for students and their families to get feedback on student progress and college readiness.

All 11th grade students taking the SAT free of charge have the opportunity to send their scores to colleges to be considered for admissions decisions.

The optional SAT Essay is offered as part of the 11th grade test. The deadline to opt into the essay portion of the SAT is February 18th. Please use this google form to opt into the essay section of the SAT. Talk to your student's counselor if you have any questions.

Parents or guardians who would like to decline their student’s College Board approved testing accommodations for the April administration of the SAT or PSAT should email our Site Assessment Leader Jessica Perkins at jperkin@dpsk12.net by March 14. Any requests made after that date may not be guaranteed because accommodations are built into the digital testing format.

These test scores affect East High School’s ratings on the state of Colorado’s School Performance Framework.

The guardian of a Denver Public Schools student, can request to excuse their child from participating in the state assessments. If you wish to opt your child out, follow the directions at this link in English or this link in Spanish. The deadline for opting out is February 28. After this date any opt out requests need to be in writing and directed to mark_saucedo@dpsk12.net.

Counseling Connections

First Semester Grades:

Your student’s final grades for the first semester are now available on Parent Portal. Please take time to review these with your student and connect with their counselor if there are any questions or failed classes that we need to create a recovery plan for.

Schedule Changes:

Please note that there are no course changes after January 10th. A student may make a level change during the first 6-weeks of a course and should schedule an appointment with their counselor to facilitate a level change.

Choice of Studies:

Soon, students will be meeting with their counselor to pick out classes for next year. In this meeting we will discuss your student’s post-secondary goals and plans, graduation requirements, and there is a presentation from our Future Center. Your student will then meet 1:1 with their counselor to pick classes. For more information, or if you were not able to make it to our COS parent Night, here are the slides. Here are a few important details:

  • Help your student prepare: Take some time to talk with your student about their 4 year plan, graduation requirements, review the course catalog, and review the course options for their grade level.

  • 9th Grade Choice of Studies: January 27-31

  • 11th Grade Choice of Studies: February 3-10

  • 10th Grade Choice of Studies: February 24-28

We will be hosting our Financial Aid workshop on January 23rd for students and families to receive help with completing the FAFSA or CASFA.

  • When: 3pm-7pm
