We are excited to share the installation of a new all-gender multi-stall restroom at East High School! This project, a collaboration with the Facilities Department, reflects our commitment to inclusivity and equity, providing a welcoming space for all students.

Given the size of our East community, a single-stall restroom is not sufficient, so we’ve implemented a multi-stall design. The stalls are designed for privacy, with 12-foot-tall partitions to ensure comfort and security.

These restrooms serve those who may feel uncomfortable in gender-specific facilities and align with our values of supporting every student. We’ve developed a plan to supervise, monitor, and maintain cleanliness, just as we do with all restrooms.

We’re grateful for the support of the Bond Oversight Committee and our Queer Student Alliance Club, who have worked together to approve funding for these installations. Together, we’re fostering a school environment where every student feels safe and respected.

Celebrations!

Alexandra Overby was recognized by the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. She was selected for recognition by her students who received the highest honors from the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. Way to go, Alexa!

Schedule Changes: 

Please note that there are no course changes after January 10th. A student may make a level change during the first 6-weeks of a course and should schedule an appointment with their counselor to facilitate a level change.  

Choice of Studies:

Soon, students will be meeting with their counselor to pick out classes for next year. In this meeting we will discuss your student’s post-secondary goals and plans, graduation requirements, and there is a presentation from our Future Center. Your student will then meet 1:1 with their counselor to pick classes. For more information, or if you were not able to make it to our COS parent Night, here are the slides. Here are a few important details:

• Help your student prepare: Take some time to talk with your student about their 4 year plan, graduation requirements, review the course catalog, and review the course options for their grade level. 

• Class Fair - January 15, from 3:00-4:00 

During this time, each department will be assigned a specific hallway, and the teachers from that department will be present for students to move around to and ask questions about their specific courses. This is a great way to meet the instructors and to find out if their class is the right choice for you.

• 9th Grade Choice of Studies: January 27-31

• 11th Grade Choice of Studies: February 3-10

• 10th Grade Choice of Studies: February 24-28 

Mid Year Report: Some schools require a Mid-Year Report, which is available after your 1st semester grades have been posted to your transcript the second week of January.  Colleges may email you or request a Mid-Year report via your student portal account with them. Make sure you are checking your student portal account on a regular basis. You will need to submit a request for these records to be sent by completing the Mid-Year Report Request.

East High School’s Spirit Store is located on the second floor just south of the Main Office.  Spirit Store operating hours:

• Monday, Tuesday and Friday – during lunch (typically 12:05 to 12:50)

• Wednesday and Thursday – during lunch (typically 11:20 to 12:05)

The Spirit Store is run by volunteers and will be closed if a volunteer is not available. If you would like to confirm store hours, volunteer, or ask questions, please contact spiritstore@eastangelfriends.org.
