Denver East’s Esports squad crushed their first official season, winning the Rocket League State Championship! The Angels brought the heat, securing a 4-1 victory over Valor Christian. This team is now the first to win an Esports state championship in DPS history! Congrats!
Denver East’s chess team members Kublai Alla, Trevor Hajek, Leo Jordan brought home the State Championship Title this week. Way to go to those students and Coach Nolan Taylor!

Unified Step-Up Dance Competition Winners!
As we transition our school community from the Red Bag Platform to our new emergency response communication platform CrisisGo, training and communication are necessary and important for our whole community. Please consider joining us for an informational hosted by DPS Chief of Climate and Safety, Chief Greg Cazzell. Chief Cazzell and his team will be facilitating training for our staff and after the break, we will begin training and communicating protocols with our students. Thank you in advance as we continue to engage your feedback and take steps to improve our safety protocols and communication.

Halos for the Homeless is collecting warm clothing. Gently used warm items can be dropped off in room 100 and 324.
Snowball Winter Dance: This is a casual, throwback dance that raises money to help provide a better holiday for East families that may need a little boost this holiday season.
Robotics Tech Challenge: Interested in doing some community service while supporting East Engineering and Robotics? East will host the FIRST Robotics Tech Challenge Qualifier Friday and Saturday, January 10th and 11th and is in need of volunteers. Please see Mrs. AD in Butler 4 or email h_anderson-duncan@dpsk12.net for more information.

Choice of Studies Night:
The counseling team invites you to join us for Choice of Studies Night on December 17th from 6-7:30. We will be sharing the yearly process for your students to select courses as well as different opportunities, supports, and resources to support them in making the best choices for their individual academic and post secondary pathway. This presentation is for both students and families. Please know this is a general information session and students will be picking classes in January or February. Please RSVP here so we can plan accordingly and ensure we are meeting your needs and answering your questions.
College Reminders:
January Deadlines:
Please remember that if you have a college deadline between January 1st and 6th, your document request was due 11/29. If you have a January 15th deadline, your document requests are due 12/13. Please also remember that you must fill out the document request form one time for each school you apply to and follow all other steps on the senior site.
Midyear reports:
Some schools require a Mid-Year Report, which is available after your 1st semester grades have been posted to your transcript the second week of January. Colleges may email you or request a Mid-Year report via your student portal account with them. Make sure you are checking your student portal account on a regular basis. You will need to submit a request for these records to be sent by completing the Mid-Year Report Request.
Regular Application Day:
Seniors that are not on pace to apply to college before January 15–and students who just need help–are invited to our “Regular Application Day” happening in the Commons from 8:30 until lunch on Friday, January 10. There will be representatives from several local colleges as well as Emily Griffith and information about getting into the trades. See you there!!
We will be hosting our Financial Aid workshop on January 23rd for students and families to receive help with completing the FAFSA or CASFA.

Annual Angel Invite
This weekend, December 14th our Swim and Dive Team will host our annual Angle Invite at Manual High School. Dive will begin at 8 am and swim will begin around 12 pm. Come out and support our amazing swim and dive athletes!
Girls Basketball Heads to Arizona
The girls basketball team will travel to Arizona to participate in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix. Where they will be competing with some of the top talent in the country. Follow the link to keep up to date on their progress and be able to live stream their games. LINK
Congratulations East JROTC!
We scored 100% (first time ever). We tied with TJ and JFK, who also scored 100%. Technically, East actually finished ahead of them because our cadets earned 8 additional points (148/140) for the cadet interviews. The inspectors can not award more than 100% on paper, but they told us we scored 408 out of a possible 400 across all areas inspected. Way to go cadets!
We will be an HONOR UNIT W/ DISTINCTION, for the 9th year in a row!!

In September 2025, Denver East High School will commemorate 150 years of shaping futures and fostering excellence. As a cornerstone of education in Denver since 1875, East has led the way in academics, arts, athletics, and social progress.
East High School’s Spirit Store is located on the second floor just south of the Main Office.
Spirit Store operating hours:
Monday, Tuesday and Friday – during lunch (typically 12:05 to 12:50)
Wednesday and Thursday – during lunch (typically 11:20 to 12:05)
The Spirit Store is run by volunteers and will be closed if a volunteer is not available. If you would like to confirm store hours, volunteer, or ask questions, please contact spiritstore@eastangelfriends.org.
