Last week, East High Civics and Theater students participated in the EduHam program, exploring how Hamilton: The Musical integrates historical documents into storytelling. On November 13th, they engaged with the cast and crew in a Q&A session discussing history, theater, and politics.

Thanks to a generous donor, many of these students will attend the musical on November 21st. This enriching experience was organized by Deb Voss, Matthew Fulford, and Cameron Browne.

Counseling Connections

Preparing for Finals:

As we move towards finals, here is a list of test prep strategies and study skills.  Choose a few to try and make changes and adjustments as you see the need. Connecting with your teachers and completing study guides is critical as well.

COS Parent Night:

The counseling team invites you to join us for Choice of Studies Night on December 17th from 6-7:30.  We will be sharing the yearly process for your students to select courses as well as different opportunities, supports, and resources to support them in making the best choices for their individual academic and post secondary pathway. This presentation is for both students and families. Please know this is a general information session and students will be picking classes in January or February. Please RSVP here so we can plan accordingly and ensure we are meeting your needs and answering your questions.

ICAP for 11/12:

As near the end of first semester, the counseling team wants to remind you that a complete 6-12 ICAP is required for graduation. If your Junior or Senior has not completed their ICAP, you would have received an email from the counseling team with the specific missing questions. Please encourage your student to review the ICAP lesson presented to all Juniors and Seniors, and follow these instructions:

  • Log into your student portal, click ICAP and click "Historical Plans" to fill in answers for incomplete questions from previous years. Then click “Current’ and answer all questions from this year. You can't write "N/A" or "I don't know." The system will continue to mark your answer as incomplete.

Leadership positions are vacant and need to be filled right away so that volunteer committees can carry on our school's traditions of Teacher Appreciation, Student Club Grants, King Soopers Loyalty Program Funds, and the amazing After Prom, among other activities that support our students and teachers. Our school needs at least four new PTSA leaders to serve as President, Vice President, Secretary, and Teacher Appreciation Chairperson. Past PTSA leadership will train and provide guidance. Everyone is welcome! To learn about how the East PTSA serves our school, to get involved or ask questions, please reach out to past PTSA parent Mina, at minaishidastein@hotmail.com or East's Family and Community Engagement Liaison, Ariel at ariel_canada@dpsk12.net
