Honoring School Board Recognition Month
Dear DPS Community,
School board directors are dedicated members of our community who volunteer their time to support our public schools. They spend countless hours to ensure the best possible educational opportunities for our students. This January, DPS joins the other 178 school districts across Colorado in observing School Board Recognition Month.

This month, we pause to appreciate their dedication and contribution to our students and our community. It is also an opportunity to learn more about how school board members collaborate to oversee and guide our schools.
The school board works with parents, educators and community members to shape the educational vision for our students. Through a policy governance model, the board establishes goals, defines results and charts a course for an adequate and equitable education for all students. The school board is accountable to the community and ensures that school funding delivers a strong return on the public’s investment in our students’ education.
