As you may have heard from the DPS central office, Kindergarten and 2nd grade H/GT screening testing is now opt-in. Starting this year, 1st grade and 5th grade will receive universal screening (instead of Kindergarten and 2nd grade in previous years). If you are a kindergarten or 2nd grade family who wants to opt-in for gifted screening testing, please follow THIS link to nominate your child. More information on this change can be found here.
If your child is in ECE, 3rd or 4th grade and you’d like to nominate them for H/GT screening, please follow THIS LINK , testing will happen later in the semester.
If your child is already identified as Highly Gifted and Talented (HGT) or Magnet Eligible (ME), they don’t need to take either of these tests again. They have already met the qualifying score this test is designed to measure.
If you are unsure of your child’s H/GT status or have any other questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Walker, stephanie_walker@dpsk12.net
DPS GT Department Family Series
Please see below for learning opportunities from the DPS GT Department - the first event in the series is September 9th.
The GT Department Family Series for 2025–26 is here! We’ll host an event each month on either the 1st or 2nd Tuesday from 5pm-6:15pm virtually, with interpretation available in DPS’ eight most commonly spoken languages. Families are encouraged to register at least one week in advance so we can arrange interpretation services. For questions, please contact bertie_fiz@dpsk12.net or greg_moldow@dpsk12.net
