One of our goals this year is to increase building-wide alignment of our weekly social emotional learning lessons, content, and economy of language. With that being said, we have a "SEL Question of the Week" that we discuss in our morning meetings and always aligns to monthly focus. Ms. Watson creates a weekly video to launch the week as well.

Please ask your students about these questions and about the conversations they are having at school!

March Focus: Kindness

Week 1: How can a kind act change the emotion someone is feeling?

Week 2: What is this person feeling? What kind act could you offer? What does it look like to practice empathy in this situation?

We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming “Pi Day” Family Math Night at Dora Moore on Thursday, March 12th from 4:15-5:30pm! This event is designed for students and their families to learn and play hands-on math games together. Through these interactive activities, students will strengthen important skills like problem-solving, number sense, and math fact fluency.

Pizza will be served at 5:00pm after we all play a round or two of math games and we'll send each family home with some materials to keep so you can play these games at home. Even just 10 minutes per night makes a huge difference in building computationally fluency and automaticity with students!

Math Night is a great opportunity to see how learning happens in the classroom, and to learn simple games you can play at home to continue building math fluency. We hope to see you there! 

March is the greatest month of college basketball and that also means it’s time to lace up your sneakers and bring your "A" game because the annual Dora Moore 'March Madness' Attendance Bracket Challenge is officially tipping off as well.

Inspired by March Madness, our classes will go head-to-head in a weekly single-elimination tournament where the "score" is determined by your overall attendance rate. The rules are simple: the class with the highest percentage of students in their seats each week moves on to the next round.

The stakes have never been higher, as the ultimate champions get to choose their own prize! Will your class opt for a pizza party, an ice cream social, or a movie and popcorn afternoon? The bar has certainly been set high—last year’s winners celebrated their victory with a bouncy castle rented for the entire afternoon!

Keep an eye out for updates on who’s advancing toward the championship title.

Every day counts, so let’s see which class has the grit to go all the way!

Unfortunately, our overall Year-to-Date Chronic Absenteeism Rate just moved above our end of year goal of 35%. We need all students present and on-time each and every day to move this back below 35% before May!
