Hello!

That was a surprising amount of snow! (Same message, different week!)

Thank you to everyone who was able to stay on Thursday after school for our first annual "Pi Day" Math Night filled with math fluency games and pizza. We had a blast!

Stay warm and hold on because it looks like its 90 degrees by the end of the week. Wild.

Have a great weekend!

Social Emotional Learning Question of the Week

One of our goals this year is to increase building-wide alignment of our weekly social emotional learning lessons, content, and economy of language. With that being said, we have a "SEL Question of the Week" that we discuss in our morning meetings and always aligns to monthly focus. Ms. Watson creates a weekly video to launch the week as well.

Please ask your students about these questions and about the conversations they are having at school!

March Focus: Kindness

Week 1: How can a kind act change the emotion someone is feeling?

Week 2: What does it look like to practice empathy at school?

Week 3: How do kind friends notice and respond to others’ emotions?

Community Garden Project Updates

We are making great progress on our Community Garden project!

1. AJI Fencing is now scheduled to begin the installation of our new Community Garden fencing on Tuesday, March 17th. Please excuse the dust and disturbance during pickup and drop off! This will extend and expand our current garden section to include the entire East side of our building from the playground all the way to the staff parking lot on the corner of Downing and 9th Avenue.

2. The raised garden beds have been purchased through a grant and have already been delivered to the school. These raised beds will be assembled by volunteers this week. (everyday after dropoff and before pick up, if you'd like to join)

3. We will be filling the garden beds with the Climate Champions Student Council students on Friday, March 20th during the school day as well as volunteers completing this task on Friday after school and Saturday morning.

If you are interested in being involved in this work, email Lane (doramooreptsa@gmail.com), Mrs. Walker (stephanie_walker7@dpsk12.net), and Ms. Ann Terril (annterrill22@gmail.com)

CMAS for 3rd-5th Graders in April

Dear Dora Moore Families,

As we prepare for the upcoming Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS), we want to ensure you have all the information necessary to support your student. These assessments provide a valuable snapshot of student progress, helping us celebrate growth and refine our instruction for the coming year.

While CMAS is just one measure of your child’s progress, it is an important opportunity for our students to demonstrate the perseverance and stamina they have built all year. We are confident our learners are ready to show off their hard work!

Testing Schedule

Testing will take place from April 7th through April 24th. All testing will take place first thing in the morning. Please note the specific testing days below:

April 7th-9th: 5th Grade Science

April 13th-15th: 3rd-5th Math

April 20th-22nd: 3rd-5th Literacy

Note: Make-up testing will occur as needed between April 7th and April 24th.

Supporting Your Student

To help our learners perform their best, we encourage you to:

Prioritize Rest: Ensure your child gets plenty of sleep and eats a nutritious breakfast.

Arrive on Time: Students should be in their classrooms ready to go at 9: 10am before testing begins.

Encourage Effort and a Positive Mindset: Talk with your child about staying relaxed, slowing down to check their work, and simply doing their personal best by using all the time provided. They deserve to be honored by their work this year by giving their best effort.

Thank you for your continued partnership in making Dora Moore a place where students can thrive and succeed. We look forward to seeing our students shine!
