Social Emotional Learning Question of the Week |
One of our goals this year is to increase building-wide alignment of our weekly social emotional learning lessons, content, and economy of language. With that being said, we have a "SEL Question of the Week" that we discuss in our morning meetings and always aligns to monthly focus. Ms. Watson creates a weekly video to launch the week as well.
Please ask your students about these questions and about the conversations they are having at school! February's Focus: Community
Week 1: Why is it important to learn about people's stories that might be different than us? Week 2: What is a role model? Who are some of the most important Black role models in our history?
Week 3: When learning about the challenges Black people faced in our history, what emotions do you feel, and how can we use those feelings to be better friends and allies today? |

Give Feedback Regarding Potential Cell Phone/Communication Device Policy for DPS |
The Communication Devices Advisory Committee (CDAC) was formed as part of an exploratory phase to advise the Board of Education on policy development required under Colorado House Bill 25-1135 (HB25-1135). This state law directs all Colorado public schools to adopt, implement, and publicly post a policy on student communication devices (such as mobile phones and similar technology) by July 1, 2026.
This community feedback process is intended to expand perspectives beyond the advisory committee membership, ensuring that recommendations are informed by the broader Denver community. Feedback from families, students, staff, and community members will help validate the committee’s work, reveal priorities or concerns that might not be fully represented within the committee, and support development of a recommendation that is equitable, research-informed, and reflective of diverse needs. Policies developed under HB25-1135 will affect everyday school practice and intersect with access and equity issues, including accommodations for students with disabilities, multilingual learners, health-related needs, and instructional access. To learn more about the CDAC visit the Board's Website.
