Good Afternoon!
That was a snowy and cold week. We had a lot of absences last week due to the weather so we are looking forward to having all of our students back in full force this week! See you in the morning!

Social Emotional Learning Question of the Week |
One of our goals this year is to increase building-wide alignment of our weekly social emotional learning lessons, content, and economy of language. With that being said, we have a "SEL Question of the Week" that we discuss in our morning meetings and always aligns to monthly focus. Ms. Watson creates a weekly video to launch the week as well.
Please ask your students about these questions and about the conversations they are having at school!
December's Focus: Excellence (continued)
Week 1: How does paying attention help you show excellence?
Week 2: What can you do when things get hard?
Week 3: How can you change an unhelpful thought into a helpful one to help you learn and grow?
Week 4: How can reflecting on your learning help you grow?
Week 5: How can mistakes help us learn and grow?

Attend an Integrated Schools Community Forum |
Integrated Schools is a parent-led non-profit movement focused on supporting caregivers in making school choices grounded in values and racial justice.
They are hosting a series of free community forums in December and January to help caregivers reflect on what matters most in their school choice process and to build understanding about why integrated, equitable schools benefit all children.
These conversations are especially helpful for families preparing to transition into kindergarten or middle school. The session are as follows:
Forum Dates (All sessions offer similar content):
- Wednesday, December 10 – 7:00 PM (Zoom)
- Friday, December 12 – 12:00 PM (Zoom)
- Saturday, January 10 – 8:30 AM (At Prodigy Coffee Shop, 3801 E 40th Ave, Denver, CO 80205)

Each Family to Receive Attendance Rate Letter by 12/12/25 |
It is our understanding that each family will receive an automated, emailed attendance letter on or before 12/12/25 from Denver Public Schools. This letter is to inform each family if their student is "Not Chronically Absent," "At Risk of Being Chronically Absent," or "Chronically Absent." Here are some clarifying 'talking points' from the District to review ahead of receiving these emails.
- EVERY STUDENT receives this message. We do this for the whole student population, just like we give grades and feedback to every student.
- Chronic Absenteeism status is different from attendance rate, and different from truancy and chronic truancy.
- A student is considered chronically absent when they miss 10% or more of the time enrolled in school for any reason: excused, unexcused or suspended. This is the state and federal definition of chronic absenteeism.
- Chronic absenteeism is calculated by the minute - so arriving late and leaving early counts.
- The message calculated the minutes of school missed and equated it to how many days that would be. Every minute matters.

Colorado Gives Day is Tuesday; Please consider donating to Dora Moore’s PTSA and Multiplying Your Impact |
From now until Dec 9, you can TRIPLE your donation!
We have two matches running at the same time — one from a private donor and another from the Colorado Gives Foundation*. Together, they can triple your impact, turning $10 into $30 or $200 into $600.
Every dollar you give before December 10 pulls in two additional dollars for our school.
Why stop there? Your gift might actually quadruple. Check to see if your employer offers donation matching!
