Denver South Ravens

Hello Ravens,

Thanks for another great week!

A huge congratulations in the production of this year's show, Radium Girls, wowed audiences and showcased the amazing talent and dedication of our theatre students.

We’d also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our JROTC students and staff for their service and representation in the Veterans Day Parade last week. Your commitment and pride not only look good marching down the streets, but make us all proud to be a South Raven!

Don't forget the annual Raven Rally Fundraiser is tonight! This is a great opportunity to connect with our school community and help fundraise money for South! Check out the PTSA Corner below for more information!

Also, as we approach finals week, please review the calendar below.

If you are a family in need of food and resources, contact the following organizations:

  • City and County of Denver: Visit their website to find food assistance across the city.

  • Colorado 211: This confidential and multilingual service connects people to vital resources across Colorado. Call 2-1-1, 866-760-6489 or visit 211colorado.org. Note: The hotline is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, however, expect long wait times. To avoid waiting, use the call-back feature.

The City and County of Denver’s Department of Human Services (DHS) will continue processing SNAP applications and renewals to make sure benefits are processed in a timely fashion as soon as the government shutdown ends. SNAP beneficiaries will receive SNAP benefits retroactively once the government reopens. DHS strongly encourages families to continue submitting SNAP paperwork in the meantime.

Cereal, Coat & Care Drive

Dear South Community,

It’s the season of giving! From November 17th to the 21st we will be hosting a cereal, coat, and personal care drive. Donations are needed now more than ever with the government shutdown of SNAP benefits, and everything collected will directly support our community.

Some of the most needed items include…

  • Shampoo and lotion (most needed personal care items)

    • Other personal care items include conditioner, body wash, and deodorant

  • Coats or other winter clothing

  • Boxes of cereal (unopened, preferably healthy, and before expiration date)

Students can drop off donation items in collection boxes located at the front of the school that will be visible as soon as you walk in. Additionally, your student can bring these items into the Giving Grocery on Thursday, 11/20 during seminar. Donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support in advance!

We are looking for industry members (virtual or in person), and we are also open to adjusting dates or times to accommodate professionals in;

  • Digital Media - December 1st or March 9th (9:30-10:10am)

  • Engineering - March 4th, 5th or 6th (8:30-9:15am)

  • Health - March 17th (12:30pm)

  • Business - January 12th (2:45pm)

  • Careers in the world of Coffee - November 17th and April 16th (2:00pm)
