Parents and Families! Cowell’s daily attendance rate is at 87% and our chronic absenteeism rate is now 52% Meaning half of our students are considered chronically absent. 

At this point in the year if your child has missed 12 or more days of school they are considered chronically absent by the district. This can have a huge impact on their academic performance and social emotional progress.

We understand that sometimes appointments can impact a student’s attendance. If you are able to make appointments after school hours or ensure your child is here before or after the appointment, this can make a huge difference. 

We also send home bi-weekly attendance updates so both you and your child can track how often they are attending school. We want to partner with all families to ensure their child is getting the best education possible. 

Reminder: Please keep your contact information up to date, including your cell phone number and email address. We also need all emergency contact information to be updated. This includes adding or changing contacts, as well as updating their cell phone numbers.

The Nurse’s Office is currently seeking donations of pants only for both boys and girls.  Please drop off any donations directly at the Nurse’s Office. Thank you for your support!

In February our 3rd - 5th graders will take interim 2 to track their learning progress and prepare them for CMAS testing in the spring. Save these dates:

School is back in session, so now is a great time to get back into reading mode and earn more Reading Dragons cards! You get new cards for every two hours you read independently. Just stop by the Rodolfo “Corky” Gonzales Branch and show your tracker to a librarian. Don't have one? Come on down to the library to get your tracker sheet and starter set. You can also challenge a librarian to a game!
