Know Your Rights

Dear Cheltenham Superhero Families,

We are hosting a Know Your Rights Training Session on March 18 at 9:15am at Cheltenham. Spanish interpretation will be available. We hope to see you here.

Know Your Rights Information

Dear Cheltenham Families,

We are sending home “Know Your Rights” cards with every student. These cards provide essential information about your rights under U.S. law, including your right to a free public education and protections regardless of immigration status. If your family doesn’t need the card, we encourage you to pass it along to a friend or neighbor who may benefit.

Additionally, if you’d like more cards, please call the school office or have your child come by to pick up extras.

These cards, created by the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC), are a helpful tool in asserting your rights in various situations, such as encounters with law enforcement. We recommend that everyone carry one of these cards to stay informed and prepared.

Important Resources:

For further support, including training on your rights and resources for families facing immigration concerns, visit DPS Immigration Resources.

Take Action:
We encourage families to create a Family Safety Plan in case of an emergency. To update emergency contact information, please follow this step-by-step guide (Spanish version) or click here to access our quick-step guide (Spanish version).

If you need assistance or have questions about the information shared, please reach out to our Family and Community (FACE) Helpline at 720-423-3054 or visit our school office.

We are committed to supporting all families and ensuring that everyone feels safe and informed
