Cheltenham Saturday School Sign Up

Families, we are excited to invite all 2nd-5th grade students to Saturday School starting Saturday, January 17th 9:00-12:00! Saturday School will run every Saturday (except 02/28, 04/11, 05/02, and 05/33). Each Saturday, students will participate in:

  • Targeted math practice
  • Targeted reading practice
  • Reading Fluency intervention
  • STEAM (ex: LEGO competitions, DS Switch competitions)
  • Breakfast and recess will be provided

ACCESS Testing Reminder

Dear Cheltenham Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well. We would like to inform you about the upcoming testing schedule:

Testing Dates:
- Jan.14
- Jan. 15
- Jan. 21
- Jan. 26th-30th

All students who are required to test have received a letter at school. If you are unsure whether your child is required to test, please feel free to contact the school office for clarification.

Please note that all MLL (multi-lingual learning) students will participate in testing. 

Important Reminders:
- Please ensure that your child arrives on time for testing.
- Chromebooks should be fully charged and ready for use.

Free & Low-Cost Trees for Denver Families

The Park People’s Denver Digs Trees program offers free* and low-cost trees to all Denver residents. Choose from a dozen climate-appropriate species and help grow shade in Denver!

Key Dates
- Applications open: Now through February 15, 2026 (or while supplies last)
- Tree pickup & planting: April 17–18, 2026

Tree Costs
$15 trees in select low-canopy neighborhoods (including Athmar Park, Auraria, Baker, Barnum, Barnum West, Chaffee Park, Clayton, Cole, College View/South Platte, East Colfax, Elyria-Swansea, Five Points, Globeville, Green Valley Ranch, Jefferson Park, Lincoln Park, Mar Lee, Montbello, Northeast Park Hill, Overland, Ruby Hill, Skyland, Sun Valley, Valverde, Villa Park, West Colfax, Westwood, and Whittier)

Free trees* available through the Treeship program for families experiencing financial hardship

Librarians Recommend: The Oldest Student: How Mary Walker Learned to Read 
In 1848, Mary Walker was born into slavery. At age 15, she was freed, and by age 20, she was married and had her first child. By age 68, she had worked numerous jobs, including cooking, cleaning, babysitting, and selling sandwiches to raise money for her church. At 114, she was the last remaining member of her family. And at 116, she learned to read. Read about Mary Walker’s incredible story of perseverance in Rita Lorainne Hubbard’s picture book, The Oldest Student: How Mary Walker Learned to Read. In this season of goals and aspirations for the new year, share a lesson that it’s never too late to achieve something you’ve always dreamed about.
