Attendance is mandatory for all incoming students.

Immunizations

The state of Colorado requires that all students have updated immunizations in order to attend school.  Required vaccinations are:

  • Hepatitis B (HepB).

  • Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (DTaP).

  • Inactivated poliovirus (IPV).*

  • Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR).

  • Varicella (chickenpox).*

  • Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap).

Students can complete these at a DPS Health clinic as part of a physical or at your health care provider.  Now is a great time to make sure your child does not have to miss school in order to receive their required immunizations.

Registration

Online registration is now open for all families and can be completed through family portal. If you would like additional assistance - please reach out to the main office at 720-424-1081 to schedule an in-person time. A few key things to emphasize:

  • Please make sure you complete the School Lunch Application. This is important to secure Title I funding for our students that accounts for hundreds of thousands of dollars in our budget.

  • Please make sure you have accurate phone numbers and emails. We will use the emails to send out weekly grade and attendance reports this coming year to improve your understanding of your student’s progress.

Communication

Bruce will be shifting from Talking Points to Thrillshare for all communication for the upcoming school year. You will begin receiving communications through Thrillshare and can communicate back to staff just like you did using Talking Points. Reach out if you have any questions about this change.

Collaborative School Committee (CSC)

We are looking to have at least 2 families from both the middle school and high school join our collaborative school committee.  We meet monthly and can determine the day and time that works best for those interested.  This past year we met the 3rd Thursday evening of each month.  This group helps review school data, inform decisions around the budget, give feedback on any changes to the schedule or programming for the school, and supports the principal in ensuring students have a great experience at Bruce. If interested, please reach out to our Family and Community Liaison (miriam_lara@dpsk12.net). We provide dinner for all meetings and they are fully translated to ensure everyone can participate.
