Wednesday October 1st is October Count Day. This is a day that the state of Colorado uses in order to determine the amount of funding that Bruce Randolph receives for the school year. It is very important that every school attends so that we receive our full funding. Please help make sure your student is present on Wednesday and if they are sick, please make sure you call the main office so we can document their reason for being absent. Thanks for partnering with us to maximize the opportunities we can provide for students.

Hey Grizzly Families!
Denver Public Schools has launched the new two-way messaging feature, Rooms, and the Denver Public Schools (DPS) app! Rooms exists within the new DPS app, which means you no longer have to use multiple accounts for different tools to keep up with your child’s teachers and their coursework! The DPS app and Rooms are meant to replace different parent-teacher communication tools used by schools in the past.
How to Download the DPS App and Sign In to Rooms
Download the Denver Public Schools app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.*
Once installed, open the DPS app, then tap “Rooms,” then “Continue to sign in.”
Type in your guardian email address or phone number.
If you typed in your email address, tap “Log in with code.” If you typed in your phone number, you will automatically receive a code. Type this code in when prompted.
You will be prompted to select your preferred communication language.
You will be automatically signed into your students’ classroom in Rooms. You will now start to receive messages about your student through the DPS app from their teacher.
To learn more about the DPS app and for a step-by-step "how to" guide, click the links below:
*If you do not have a device where you can download the DPS app, access the DPS app from a computer. You can log in via browser at rooms.thrillshare.com.

We had our Bruce Culture Day this past Friday! A quick reminder on culture days - we use those days for 6 purposes:
1) We build community within our student body.
2) We do goal-setting for the semester and upcoming assessments and data review
3) We work to support students with maintaining all C’s or better.
4) We do field trips aligned to career and college readiness.
5) We support student social-emotional learning.
6) We do school-wide meetings and celebrations. Attendance is mandatory just like for other school days and students will receive a grade and at the high school level credit towards graduation.

Our goal continues to be 90% attendance and currently we are at 89% attendance. Please make sure your students are in school everyday unless they 1) have a fever 2) are vomiting or have diarrhea 3) have a severe cough 4) have flu like symptoms

We have conferences coming up on October 2nd and 7th from 4-7:30. We hope to see you there to celebrate your student’s progress so far this year.

You may have received communication this week regarding chronic absenteeism. Reminder, a student who is absent more than 10% of the school year is considered chronically absent, whether those absences are excused or not. If you have questions, we’d love to talk with you more at Back to School night or any other time. Call the main office to schedule a time if Back to School Night doesn’t work.

October 13th is our school’s conference make-up day. There will be no school for students and educators.

We will be launching Saturday school for both the MS and HS. High school students will work on credit recovery, SAT practice, and missing work. MS students will work on tutoring supports, acceleration in Math and English, as well as fun activities. If you are interested in signing your student up for Saturday School, please call the main office or email Leona_gonzalez@dpsk12.net
