Know Your Rights Seminar

Bruce Randolph School and ELA-S teachers in partnership with the "Power Movement" group, invites families to the 1st "Know Your Rights" seminar with the purpose of informing, empowering, and providing useful tools and contacts to protect and promote the rights of our students and their families.

 

Conferences - Thursday, Feb. 12 

If we didn't see you at conferences last week. We hope to see you this Thursday, February 12th from 4-7:30pm. We want to partner with you to make sure your students has an amazing 2nd semester.

 

Wellness Spirit Week, Feb. 9-13

Monday, Feb. 9: Healthy sleep Habits - Pajama Day
Tuesday, Feb. 10: Physical Health - Jersey Day
Wednesday, Feb. 11:  Lungs/Vaping Awareness - Wear Pink
Thursday, Feb. 12: Mental Health Awareness - Wear green
Friday, Feb 13: Heart Health - Wear red (shirt or sweatshirt)

 

February 11th Reminders

6-8th Grade Interim Testing:
Bruce Randolph students should make sure they are well rested prior to testing and they arrive with Chromebooks charged and ready to use. The school will use this data to learn more about how to get our students best prepared for end of year testing. 

9-11th Grade PSAT/SAT Practice Testing: 9-11th Grade: We will begin PSAT/SAT Practice Testing on Feb. 11. Bruce Randolph students should make sure they are well rested prior to testing and they arrive with Chromebooks charged and ready to use. 

12th Grade: 
Seniors will be completing ICAP graduations requirements and other work with Ms. Angie from DSF. 

 

Attendance Update

We want to stress the importance of your student being in school every day when they are healthy. We believe that schools are the safest place for your students right now and that being in school every day supports students academically, socially, and emotionally. Let us know if you need assistance or have questions about your student's attendance. Check below for attendance data and updates: 

Week of Jan. 26-30
HS: 83%, Chronic absent: 37%
MS: 85%, Chronic absent: 33%

Week of Feb. 2-6
HS: 74%, Chronic absent: 72%
MS: 78%, Chronic absent: 67%

PSAT/SAT Preparation

We are kicking off our PSAT and SAT preparation plan. Please talk to your students about their progress on Khan Academy and how they're feeling about the upcoming assessments.

 

Communication Notifications

Families, we are continually sending out notifications through texts, dialers, and emails. Please make sure your information is updated in your student's portal. If you are not receiving communications from us, please reach out so that we can troubleshoot with you to ensure you are receiving information around your students attendance, grades, school activities, etc.

 

Culture and Testing Days

For future culture days and testing days, to make sure our students are safe, all families who would like to excuse their students must come to the main office in-person or have a early release permission form on file. All other student releases must be done in person by coming into the attendance office.

 

National School Counseling Week

Senior Reminders

Cap and Gowns:
If you received an email from me today, you have NOT ordered your cap and gown. Please click on the link below to order: https://rmbalfour.com/bruce-randolph-cap-gown-tassel/.  If you have any questions or want to discuss payment or cost, please see Dr. Peterson. 

Senior Attendance:
Both seniors and eighth graders must maintain at least 90% attendance during the second semester in order to participate in continuation and graduation. Families and students will receive a weekly email every Monday morning with updates.

For seniors enrolled in any Edgenuity courses, attendance at Saturday school is required until their course is completed. Your student will receive weekly reminders about Saturday school and their attendance.

 

Pick-Up Reminder

Over the past few days, buses have been unable to access the back parking lot because cars have been blocking the area. Please remember that the back lot is reserved for buses and Hop Skip cars only. All other pick-ups should take place in the front of the school.

We appreciate your cooperation as we work to ensure the safety of our students and keep buses on schedule.

Student Highlight

Big shoutout to Fernando (Ferny) DeDios from our Bruce Randolph Class of 2025! After graduation, Ferny’s been hard at work at Emily Griffith Technical College, studying welding, and he’s killing it.

Scholarship Information

The Denver Foundation is offering over 20 scholarships through our Universal Application, making it easier for students to apply for multiple opportunities with just one form. These scholarships include:

- Community Scholarship: Supports first-generation, economically disadvantaged college students with awards around $5,000.
- Excelsior Scholarship: Helps bridge financial gaps for high-achieving students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Helen M. McLoraine Nonprofit Employee Scholarship: For Denver-area nonprofit employees pursuing coursework in human services.
- Foster Care & Emancipated Youth Scholarship: For youth with foster care experience pursuing post-secondary education.
- Never Forgotten Scholarship: Honors Columbine victims, offering scholarships to high school seniors and teachers in the Denver metro area.
- Winifred R. Reynolds Scholarship: Supports graduate students focused on early childhood education.
