Juniors & Seniors - You're Invited! | Prom 2026 |
Prom is coming for juniors and seniors on May 1st. Students have received information on some resources for free dresses. If your student would like to bring a non-Bruce date, they must have a signed permission slip turned in to Dr. Peterson prior to buying a ticket. The last day to purchase a ticket is April 30. We will not sell tickets at the door. Students who do not have 90% attendance and are failing more than 1 class will need to check in with Dr. Peterson on a plan to support them in making sure they remain on track for graduation in order to attend prom.

Contact Information Updates |
As the school year ends, please make sure you have updated emergency contact information for your student. If you need to update your child's emergency contact information? This step-by-step guide (also available in Spanish) shows you how to add, remove, or modify emergency contact updates for your child in Infinite Campus at any point in the school year.
|
If you are an 8th or 12th grade parent, please make sure you are tracking your students grades and attendance to make sure they are on track to walk at their ceremonies. You should be receiving emails each Friday regarding your students grades and attendance as long as you have a working email address in Infinite Campus. If you would like to add an email, please email pamela_cisneros@dpsk12.net. Any student with less than 90% attendance and who is not passing at all classes will need to have a plan to improve their attendance in order to participate.

We are excited to announce that the chiller in the building has been updated and is fully operational. It is already making a major difference. We are thankful for our amazing students and educators who worked through the challenges of it taking a few extra weeks for the new chiller to get running. |
We have had a significant uptick in vaping incidents over the last few weeks. Please have conversations with your students about the dangers of vaping and that vapes are illegal on school grounds. To help with this, blankets will no longer be allowed at school. If your student needs a jacket or sweatshirt for cooler weather, let us know and we can work to provide one. |
Summer school will run June 4-18th for all high school students who fail a core class, a class required for graduation, or are off-track for graduation. Please encourage your students to work on improving their grades and attendance this last month so that they can enjoy their summer. |
Currently Bruce has an 84% attendance rate which is down 1% from last year. Our chronic absenteeism rate is 62% which is 5% higher than last year. This means that 62% of Bruce students attend school less than 90% of the time and would be considered failing from a federal level in attendance. We have about 200 students who sit between 80 and 90% attendance who could get to a 90% attendance rate if they attended every day for the rest of the year.
Can you help us grow in attendance and decrease our chronic absentee rate this last month? We’d love to make progress from where we were last year. Please let us know if we can support you or your student in any way over these last 5 weeks.

Senior and 8th Grade Families |
We will be scheduling student meetings with students and families of 8th graders and seniors who are not on track to walk at graduation/continuation. We would love to have you join us for those meetings to make sure we are all supporting your student. |

|
We have Saturday school each Saturday until May 16th from 8:30-11:30am with the exception of May 2nd. Any high school student failing a class should be in attendance. Eighth grade students who want to make up for missed attendance should talk with Ms. Lozoya about attending.
