A Message from Principal Olson

Dear Grizzly Families,

At Bruce Randolph, we are dedicated to growing the best educators and students in order to help our school and community thrive. Dr. Sarah Peterson has been serving as a Principal Resident this year in order to continue to grow professionally. She has done a fantastic job of taking on leadership duties and ensuring that our students, staff and community are meeting the high goals we have in place for students. In order to support her leadership journey, she will embark on a two week Acting Principal Experience starting on January 5th and ending on January 19th

This means that I, Erin Olson, will be out of the building for two weeks while Dr. Peterson leads the school. Throughout this time, I will embark on a variety of professional development opportunities as well as working on some internal projects that will help me grow my practice as a leader while also preparing us for the spring semester and beyond. Dr. Peterson and I have meticulously planned for this experience and I know that she is ready to lead our community. In addition, she will have support from various mentors throughout the district.

I will definitely miss our students and staff but know that I am leaving them in great hands and look forward to reconnecting with our community on January 20th. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Semester Wrap-Up Information

We are winding down the semester. We will have our last culture day on December 18th. That morning we will have an opportunity for students with D’s and F’s to improve their grades. The 19th will be by invite only for students with F’s. All other students will not need to attend on the 19th.

Saturday School

We currently have Saturday school most weeks. Students who have credit recovery are required to attend. Students who are failing classes currently at the HS level are required to attend until the end of the semester in order to help them stay on track for graduation. Students who would like extra tutoring and/or to prepare for the upcoming PSAT/SAT are encouraged to attend.

Attendance for Graduation/Continuation

Students in 8th and 12th grade will need to have 90% attendance during 2nd semester to walk in continuation or in graduation. Students who are below 90% attendance will have the opportunity to attend Saturday school to improve their attendance rate. If there are extenuating circumstances, we can work with you as a family. We want to make sure our students are learning valuable life skills as they prepare to transition.

Attendance Updates

We are continuing to see a decrease in attendance and an increase in chronic absenteeism.  We particularly notice that students are absent on Monday and Friday. Please help your student achieve academically by helping them to be in attendance each day.
