Principal Sutherland's Message! |
Hello Yeti Families,
We have officially reached February. February is Black History Month, a time to honor and celebrate the history, contributions, and achievements of Black Americans. Throughout the month in LC, students will engage in learning that highlights Black voices and experiences as an important part of our shared history.
The first week of February we have INTERIM #2. Our school wide goal is to grow in proficiency in Math and Language Arts by 5%. Based on our unit assessments, we are slated to MEET this goal! I am very proud of how locked in our students have been in Semester 2. We will no doubt keep up this momentum.
BIG SHOUT OUT to 7th graders! You had the lowest number of behavior incidents in January, and you are starting February with FREE DRESS for an entire week. 6th and 8th grade....will you be the winners next month?
8th Grade Families, our second on track field trip is 3/27. Students must be on track by 3/25. Being on track matters now. Remember, being on track for this field trip sets students up very well for being on track as we head into the home stretch of the school year.
Alway here for you, families -- Rachael Sutherland Principal Bear Valley Middle School |

Please remember the importance of sending your student to school with a reusable water bottle each day as we have several filling stations throughout our campus. Supports learning. Staying hydrated helps students focus, process information, and maintain energy throughout the school day. Boosts health. Regular water intake helps regulate body temperature, supports digestion, and reduces headaches and fatigue.
Saves time. Having a personal bottle reduces classroom disruptions from students leaving to get water and shortens lines at water fountains. Promotes hygiene. Personal bottles lower the chance of sharing germs compared with communal cups or fountains. Eco-friendly. Reusable bottles cut down on disposable plastic waste and teach sustainable habits. |

Spring Family Conferences |
On Thursday 2/26 from 4:30pm -7:00pm we will be hosting our Spring Family Conferences.
Our Spring Family Conferences are an invite-only opportunity designed to support students who would benefit from extra academic help and a family–school partnership to finish the year. If your family receives an invitation, it’s because our team believes a conference will help create a focused plan—academic goals, progress checks, and home strategies—to ensure your child finishes the year strong.
Invited families will receive details about scheduling. If you have questions about the invitation process or believe your child would benefit from a conference, please contact the front office or your child’s teacher. We look forward to partnering with you. |
Showing up to school each day builds consistency, strengthens learning, and helps students form positive routines.
Regular attendance means students don’t miss critical instruction, class discussions, or group work that deepen understanding and prepare them for assessments. It also supports social-emotional growth: being present fosters relationships with peers and teachers, boosts confidence, and creates a sense of belonging. Small gaps add up — every day in class counts toward long-term success. |

| Bike and Scooter Safety - Helmets REQUIRED! |
If your child rides a bike or e-scooter to school, please make sure they wear a properly fitted helmet every time. Helmets greatly reduce the risk of head injury and keep our students safe. We’re happy to store e-bikes and scooters in the main office—please note we will only accept them if the student is wearing a helmet. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe! |

King Soopers Reward Program |
Did you know that King Soopers accounts can sign up for “Community Award” and they donate a percentage of the purchase to the selected organization, at no extra cost to the shopper. Below is the instructions on how to select Bear Valley International for your Community Award. The program does not impact your personal award or fuel points earned.
Log into your King Soopers account online, go to home>My Account>Community Rewards, then search for Bear Valley International (PR112) and then click enrolled. Currently we are getting roughly $300 per quarter to support all the celebrations and snacks we provide the students. We would love to see that number double or even triple since adding us to your community rewards is a FREE way to earn money for our amazing students. |
