Principal Message

Dear Asbury Families,

We are thrilled to invite you to one of our most beloved traditions: Asbury’s WOW Art Show & Dish-A-Story Potluck. This evening is a beautiful celebration of the creativity, heritage, and stories that make our community so vibrant.

🗓️ Event Schedule & Details

Date: Wednesday, April 29, 2026

WOW Art Show (Indoors): 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM

Dish-A-Story Potluck (Outdoors): 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM - Click HERE for more information and to RSVP.

🎨 The WOW Art Show

Start your evening inside the building for an immersive walk through our student gallery. You’ll have the chance to see the incredible artistic vision and hard work our students have poured into their masterpieces this year.

🍲 Dish-A-Story: What to Bring

After the WOW Art Show, join us outside for a community meal rooted in history and heart. We invite families to bring a beloved dish—one that holds special meaning to your heritage or your home.

Whether you are able to bring a dish to share or not, everyone is invited to pull up a chair! We want to celebrate everything our families "bring to the table."

📢 How to Participate

To help us prepare for this "living tapestry" of food and stories, please take note of the following:

RSVP: Please fill out THIS FORM by April 25th so we can coordinate our potluck space.

Prepare to bring a family dish (that would feed a family of 4 or more) to share with the community.

We can’t wait to celebrate our diverse, vibrant community with all of you!

In Partnership,

Jeanna Doung

As always, we appreciate all those that have started to put your input into our survey. Please take a few minutes to share your voice via our confidential survey: Asbury Public Input Survey Link: https://forms.gle/B52ks6Lr3bpx8qsM8

🐾 Pups off the Playground, Please!

As the weather gets nicer, we love seeing so many of you walking to school with your furry friends! Just a friendly reminder to keep all our students safe (and to accommodate those with allergies or fears), dogs are not allowed on the school playground or blacktop. Please keep your pups on the perimeter sidewalks during drop-off and pick-up.

If you happen to get "caught" with a pup on school grounds, consider yourself "ticketed"—and the fine is one ream of white printer paper for the front office!

Thanks for helping us keep our grounds safe and our supply closet stocked! 🐶📄

Calling all Rising 6th & 9th Grade Students and Families!

Student Transitions at “Belonging Begins Here” Event

As we look toward the 2026-2027 academic year, ensuring a seamless transition for our rising 6th and 9th graders is critical to long-term student persistence and belonging. DPS invites you and incoming students to attend Belonging Begins Here, a district-wide community event designed to anchor students in their new school communities before Day 1.

Why This Matters:

Targeted Transition Support: Our student-led panels and workshops address the "transition shock" that often impacts attendance and engagement in the first quarter.

Event Details:

Date/Time: Saturday, April 11 / 10:00 AM- 2:00 PM

Location: Manual High School (1700 E. 28th Ave.)

Programming: Resource fairs, student leadership panels, and bilingual workshops focused on "navigating the jump" to middle/high school.

How do I sign up?

Here is the flyer  with additional information and the RSVP link.

Join the Asbury Collaborative School Committee (CSC)!

Are you looking for a way to have a direct impact on the future of our school? We are looking for passionate parents and community members to join the Collaborative School Committee (CSC) for the upcoming school year!

What does the CSC do?

The CSC is a vital leadership group that works alongside school administration to provide input on our school’s strategic goals, budget priorities, and overall school design. It is the place where parent voices truly help shape the "Roots & Reach" of Asbury.

What is the commitment?

Time: One meeting per month (usually 60 minutes).

Engagement: Occasional "pre-reading" (about 20 minutes) to prepare for meaningful discussions.

Collaboration: Sharing your unique perspective to help us make the best decisions for all students.

How do I join?  While there is an official community voting process to finalize the committee, we encourage anyone with an interest in school leadership to step forward! No prior experience in school administration is necessary—we just need your heart and your voice.

Interested?

Please email Jeanna_Doung@dpsk12.net to let her know you’d like to be added to the ballot or to ask any questions you may have.

    • We've gathered up the most critical information from some (most?) of the area's top summer camps and compiled it in one location for you. In the spreadsheet you'll find registration and camp dates, times, cost and cancellation info, as well as a link to each camp's website.
    • There's also a Schedule Tracker tab at the bottom for each grade level. If you feel so inclined, you can insert a line with your child's camp plans for any given week so others can see if their kiddos will know anyone at a given camp.
